I've seen the exact same thing, and I'll almost guarantee that it has nothing to do with your play, or lack of play. I got a boarding Pass a couple years ago, played a couple table games (for very low stakes) and no VP, and I started getting those mailers at least once a month, and all of them had free stay days scattered about in the promotion on small calendar charts. This was for practically no play at all, and certainly not enough to earn a room comp.

with a number of free days, including three consecutive weekdays at
the end of April. Admittedly, Sunset has gotten the bulk of my
Stations play in general. Are there any visiting Stations players
here with a similar or different experience?
