Padding "My Offers" page (formerly: HARRAH'S - You've got to be kidding me!)

Sorry if it seems that I'm "flogging a dead horse" with this - and
if anyone feels that I should stop this thread, just say so and I'll
not post about it again. In any event, I got a reply from Total
Rewards to my email concerning the multiple entries for the
Hexbreaker Kiosk game at Caesars A.C. scheduled for February 13th.
I've posted the answer (and my follow-up reply) below.
Unfortunately there was nothing in their answer that gave me an
indication as to whom or what Department was responding to my query.

TOTAL REWARDS' ANSWER:
Dear NEIL,

Thanks for bringing this to our attention. Your comments are
appreciated as it enables us to identify what we are doing correctly
to satisfy our guests, as well as discovering where adjustments can
be made.

Invited guests can swipe their card at any Cash & Comp Kiosk to play
the Hexbreaker Game. There will be chances to win: 13x, 23x or 213x
Reward Credit Multiplier, 20,013 Reward Credits, $13, $213, $2013 or
even $20,013 in cash. Invited cardholders have a chance to win
several different things, we had to set-up multiple coupons in the
offer. This is why it is appearing so many times. We do apologize
for any confusion in this matter.

Thank you and have a good day!

MY REPLY:
I hope you'll forgive me for saying that this is not a particularly
satisfying answer. It is clear that the HET/Total Rewards "Offers"
system is a complex one. When I'm sent a "room offer" that may be
used at any of the four HET casinos in Atlantic City the wording
makes it clear that it's a single offer that may be used at only one
of those casinos, "Your choice: Harrah's Resort, Caesars, Showboat
or Bally's." But the offer is then listed four times (once for each
casino but each entry with the same exact offer code) and counted in
my "Offers" total as four separate offers. Yet this is obviously
not true. To now tell me that because there are multiple, potential
outcomes to my "single swipe" Marketing must make a "single" offer
appear as eight separate offers is equally disingenuous. This is a
single, one-time event, taking place at a single casino, and as such
should only appear on my personal "My Offers" page as a single
entry. I find it rather difficult to believe that, with the
technology available to, and in use by, HET that this is not
possible. This would seem to be a moot point however, as all eight
offers were removed from my "My Offers" page without explanation
sometime earlier this week. P.S. For whatever reason, I was not
able to separate my reply into paragraphs. Each time I would hit
the "Return" key my cursor would be placed outside the designated
response area. I don't know if this is a Gmail issue or has
something to do with the way your reply message is structured.

Personally, I have no problem with you raising your irritation with
this aspect of Harrah's online offer reporting. And I'll grant the
the duplication of offers is tedious to sift through, plus there are
signs that the voluminous number of offers shown may crowd out some
offers, causing them to be prematurely dropped from the listing.

That said, I'll offer up my perspective (speaking solely for myself):

I take it as a granted that the listing is generated very
mechanically. It may also be that they genuinely consider at least
some of the duplication desirable -- perhaps they reason that some
players might sort the list by property and Harrah's wants to ensure
that should a player scan a specific property a player is clear about
what offers their eligible for at that property specifically.

For me, the bottom line is that I don't find it too onerous to work
with the reporting as it exists. I'm appreciative of it's
availability, for I find it a considerable convenience.

Where someone finds room for desirable improvement (and there is
much), I find it very commendable if they take the time to suggest
that improvement to Harrah's. Of course, in that case, all one can do
is offer up the suggestion and hope for the best. If Harrah's doesn't
take the bait and run with it, it's perhaps best to just take
satisfaction in having gone the distance to make the effort.

I accept the reporting as it exists within that perspective. I get
that the reporting really annoys you, and gets under your skin a bit.
I don't consider that unreasonable.

But personally I'm not inclined to infer that Harrah's has elected to
report in this manner in order to inflate the listing for the sake of
exaggerating the value of what's offered ... if for no other reason
than I can't imagine anyone other than an utter fool taking in the
listing and going, "Wow!". (And I'm not particularly concerned should
such a fool exist ... they likely have much bigger issues on their
plate I'm not in a position to help them with.)

Dear Drew & Harry:

Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated. I,likewise, tend to
find the posts from both of you well worth the time.

Harry, I gotta tell ya that that closing paragraph and the mental
image it generated in my head gave me one of the best laughs I've
had all week. And I think it's in part because I don't find it all
hard to believe that there are individuals who set great store by
the "volume" of offers they have available, regardless how much is
wheat, & how much chaff.

As to your point about the aspect of duplication benefitting those
who may sort by property - I agree completely. And even though I'm
among the first to admit that I have very little understanding or
facility for computer programming and software application - I will
still maintain that HET/Total Rewards is fully capable of having a
single offer code counted only once (irrespective of how many times
that offer code is listed) in whatever phase of the program
generates the tally for listing the "# of Offers" that appears just
below the totals for Tier Score and Rewards Credits on the sign-in
page.

I realize this is quite a "nit" to pick, but I believe it is an
indicator of a larger issue of - Oh, what to call it?! Value
Inflation - maybe? Okay - thanks for listening (and I really do
think I'm done with this now.)
