Thanks...I just got an email telling me they had been shipped (along with
tracking info)..
Still curious to know what the issue was (I had been told it was out of
HET's control). Figuring I'll need to use those gift cards quickly before
Outback goes out of business or something!

I don't hear anything about Outback having problems. Went by there
yesterday at lunch and the place was packed. Got a menu to go so we
could start "scouting" our gift card dinner! Was nearby using up yet
another gift card (Olive Garden).
The purpose of my post is not to discuss dinner. Rather, in more
broad terms, players should be mindful of gift card balances and
possible expiration dates as well as the financial condition of the
retailer. I used up a Circuit City gift card just in time last week.
And I know many of you have Macy's gift cards. If your gift card
balance is sizeable, you might consider making that big ticket
purchase sooner rather than later. I couldn't begin to predict which
business might fail next. Even the ever-present Starbuck's (another
of my gift cards) is cutting back.
