OT: STRICTLY SLOTS

For those of you that get the Strictly Slots magazine, check out page 22 of the April issue. The author (Rob Wiser) was trying to explain why the Martingale system is flawed.

He explains the system: $5, 10, 20, 40, 80, 160, 320, etc. When you win a bet, you start all over again.

Now for the quote: after "you've lost seven hands in a row. Now, your next bet needs to be $640...and you're $1,275 in the hole! If you win this $640 bet, you're still down $635, and you're now supposed to revert back to your original $5 bet".

Everyone knows that each time you win a bet, you are $5 ahead of the previous time you won.

Of course there are other reasons not to play this system, but his explanation is not one of them.

I don't know what words are in between "needs to be $640" and "and you're
$1,275 in the hole" in the original article. But, it sounds like they meant
to say that if you lose the 8th bet, you're $1,275 in the hole. The part
about being down $635 even after winning the 8th bet is just irresponsible
journalism. And, for this publication, it's really not surprising.

STRICTLY SLOTS and CASINO PLAYER are consistently filled with errors in
every issue. Frequently, the errors are just spelling and grammatical
errors. Other times, it's mathematical or factual errors. In any
case....it's as if there is no one proof-reading or editing any of the
articles before they are printed. These publications are unprofessional to
say the least.

I gave up on SS years ago. And, I will not be renewing my CP subscription
when it expires. It's not a very interesting magazine, anymore, and the
constant errors are just too annoying.
