OT: Re: OFF TOPIC of VP, moving to LV, need advice

I won't get political since I know it's not ok on this group,

Too Late.

This is so horrible. I just turned a young 55 myself, and I feel like I

am literally watching Rome starting to burn.<<

As has every "older" generation since Rome actually burned.

I am old enough to remember such better times in this country, even

though I grew up in the turbulent 60s, there was still at least a safe feeling.
Now it is just frightening, it's like an air of impending doom, I just
can't help but feel this way.<<

You felt safe in the '60s? (You might recall that little thing called the
Cold War.) But, to address your immediate concern, I'm sure they would
welcome your citizenship in Canada or some other country where you would feel
safer.

Yeah sure, get snotty about it. My concerns are legit and shared by many. This lady's property is being overrun by drug cartels, and our own government has no apparent intentions of doing much about it. They killed her dog, for cryin outloud! We could bring our troops home from freaking Iraq, and put the Marines on her ranch in Arizona! Tomorrow!

You go to Canada. God bless America!

There are a lot of illegals in the Palm Springs area, too.
While most are nice and hardworking, there is a serious

The Casinos know this and have taken steps to avoid
problems, while at the same time advertising in Spanish,
hiring Spanish speaking employees and having their
Music for concerts. (Los Tigres del Norte, I think...)

It's off topic, but it's also on.
When you have a few tough looking tattooed guys
from any culture watching you and talking about
you inside the casino, it might cause you concern.

Fortunately, I'm usually twice their size and have
that vibe they want to leave alone.

If not, I go up to them and talk friendly in Spanish
and that does it.

Me, I love America, despite it's shortcomings, and
will make the best of it, like our VP friend who's
moving to Las Vegas from her Arizona war zone.

Hey, I might criticize my favorite Casino, but still
play there, you know?

So, let's not be black and white about it, ok?

I wasn't even think about illegals. My point is, that as a middle-aged man, I have a reference point where I can remember when things were better, and I felt safer. Compared to what things used to be like, I think it's fair to say the country is unraveling, relatively speaking. Is there still hope? Of course there's hope. But back to the story at hand, there is something very wrong with this picture when this woman and her husband and dogs and horses are being attacked, on their own ranch, in the United States of America, and no one is doing anything about it. And that's just one issue. When you look at the whole picture, the financial picture, etc., and add it all up, I'm just saying it's difficult not to feel a sense of doom. Trust me, I'd rather be playing video poker, without a care in the world.
