Orleans

Since the Orleans slowed down all their deuces machines to a crawl, every month
I have been very careful to put $10,000 through. Even before I know they were
switching over to the new mailing system. So when I got the $10.00 mailer for
February I was a bit surprised. I talked to a slot club supervisor and was
told I had $1966.00 coin in on Dec. 1st. It was a double points day and I
earned 5657 points and won $100.00 so I calculated that I put $2728 through. I
played four other days, the last being the 19th, which put me over the $10,000.
The news about the change in mailings came out around this time and I thought
I was in good shape. After talking to the slot supervisor and Dawn Anderson, I
was told I would be called back about their decision whether to upgrade my
mailing. I know the extra $15.00 in food and $15.00 in bounceback is sort of
trivial, but it is a matter of principle now. I never did get a call back so I
talked to Jeannie Kessler over the weekend and she said I needed to talk to
Roseanne Walton, the slot club manager. I explained to her the whole situation
and she agreed that I was awarded too many points on the 1st but couldn't do
anything about it because my coin in was less than $10,000. I asked why I was
being penalized for their computer glitch? She just kept apologizing and said
I should be back at the "A" level next month. She asked me if I checked with
the club in December about my total coin in. I didn't think I needed to and
besides, I was sure I was way over the $30,000 I thought I needed for the 3
month period. I also said I assumed I was getting an honest reading from the
computer. By her questions it sounded like she didn't even trust her own
system.

I am not going to take this any further because it isn't worth it, but I just
wanted to vent and make everyone aware of the wonderful attitude the Orleans
has towards a former good customer.

It appears the Suncoast & Orleans are following the same business plan. I
am happy to report the Gold Coast does not appear to have taken a turn down
that dead end road at this time. I'm sure we will all be monitoring the
situation carefully. I think it's time to add the Orleans to the "penny
wise & pound foolish" list of DO NOT PLAY casinos (along with the Suncoast).
Our money will certainly follow our feet to other FPVP and customer
"friendly" venues.

Don't get me started on the Orleans (well, too late)

The Suncoast's moves, I don't like, but I don't disrespect. Maybe tighter pay schedules will make for more profits, maybe not.

The Orleans, on the other hand...I sort of understand the slashing of the dollar+ inventory. But then...

1) They force local's mailings recipients to attend Debbie Reynolds or nothing, then this month, the Righteous Brothers or nothing. No more choosing which show you'd like. Can anybody explain the rational for this??? Don't they understand that these shows will be packed (so that paying customers won't be able to get a ticket), while others will be woefully under-attended? And what a thrill for the performers: a crowd full of people who don't particularly like you and only showed because "Joe Millionaire" was a re-run. What a magic night!

2) They slow the FPDW to a crawl. Advantage players continue to play, but hog the machines longer, often two at a time. Recreational players get bored out of their minds.

3) They (along with all the Coast Casinos) remove the free ice cream coupon from the mailers. Now, come ON. Was that 50-cent scoop of frozen fat really killing them? Don't they realize that this coupon was at least as good of a draw (it's not rational, it just is: FREE ICE CREAM!!!)as the cash coupons? Gimmieeabreak.

OOOHHH...I forgot one...

Their December mailings were VERY generous. BUT... they make their restaurant coupon great but GOOD ONLY FOR ONE WEEK, M-F ONLY. Naturally everybody showed up on Friday and nobody could get a table - especially paying customers, who had no way of knowing what awaited. Brilliant!!!

What a shame! I sincerely hope my home away from home, Barbary Coast, maintains their 15 FPDW machines. Maybe it's a good idea that the Coast Casinos don't merge slot clubs!

I was offered comped rooms at BC for spring break and decided to take my
play to MSS and SAM's. I just can't afford to take the risk that BC will
follow Suncoast and Orleans. I enjoy the Orleans but fighting for comps
just wasn't worth it. This has already been mentioned tbut the marketing
dept offers from Orleans far exceed anything I ever requested from a host.
