Orleans ; Is It Over?

I arrived at the Orleans Friday morning at about 8:30a.m. Both 100+ banks
were closed down.

The one by the registration desk was attended by two employees where the
screens had the programs viewed of the various games . They were busy pressing
this and that. My assumption was they were closing down and changing all the
paytables after only one month of operation.

I had a busy day but was surprised when I saw no report on VPfree. Is it
over? Are all games back to the poor paytables and downgrades that are now
synomous with the Boyd group?

Please post if you have more detailed info.

I was at the Orleans late yesterday afternoon. The 2
banks of FP were changed at the .50 and $1 levels. So
all the full pay remains for quarters, but for .50 and
$1, only DB,DDB,JW remain.

Well, gee whiz, I wonder how THAT happened?

Yeah, after "just" one month of any number really intelligent looking
people pounding away at a 2% play, the house said "uncle".

To correct the other poster, here's the lineup:

.25 all games (FPDW, 17-10 LDW, 10-6, 10-7, 20-7)

.50 20-7, 10-7, 10-6

$1 10-7, 10-6

Frankly, I think they're showing a lot of heart putting this lineup
out, but quite a few squares are playing now that the really
intelligent looking locals have departed.

As usual, GREED kills good plays. The predators never think past their
noses. It seems that some think playing two machines won't draw
attention. Speeding up machines and tying up the banks won't be
noticed. Our real enemy is not the casino's. It is the paly killers
amoung US!!

Now I wonder if I'm a square or a non-intelligent

greed theory, its a gigantic KNOWLEDGEABLE PLAYER BASE thats killing
(already killed) 95% of all the good plays. 15 years ago, before VP
classes, optimum play books/software and web sites, No one had a
problem with tying up two fast 5$ FPDW machines with a half% slot
club. Now any individual seen playing two machines is quickly
chastised as a GREEDY person! Quite frankly, Id pound a 2%plus play
as long as I could becasue literally hundreds of other
ádvantage'players are gonna do the exact same thing, some of whom
will complain about 'greedy' players after the play is dead! By the
way playing 2 machines at once is no less 'damaging' than playing
one machine for 9 hours str8 on 2x pts. days. As far as Im
concerned, good plays/paytables were put there for us to take
advantage of. I made over 18K hammering the 0.50cent LD at the
Orleans and am not ashammed of it! In fact Im thrilled I did better
than expectation cause I know at least 2 people who lost overall. I
honestly hope most of us here did well; I dont blame anyone who
helped kill the play because it was inevitable. This is the brave
new VP world we live in: Too many KNOWLEDGEABLE PLAYERS means
rapidly decreasing plays equals any great play, unless its kept
secret, will die almost immediatly. Get used to it! Its the players
such as myself who came here 20 yrs ago and saw the gravy train roll
in then roll out and derail who are going to have to most trouble
living in it. In the meantime, its two fast machines for me slamming
whatever the next juicy opportunity brings, be it dollars-fifty cent-
quarters- even dimes and nickles!

The Las Vegas Video Poker Hustler's Credo: If you don't burn it down,
someone else will.

Games with 60+ coin variance (Super Aces, LDW, Triple Deuces, TDB,
etc..), the second line really is the royal, not the royal itself.
Still, the 2% means you're essentially freerolling the royal, and to
make a profit, you have to hit it eventually. I'm not surprised that
there were a couple of losers.

Excellent post, and I agree 100%. I would add in the same vein that
too many people know how to play at least colorably close to optimally
as well. You might want to consider how this little factoid came to be ;).

I think one of Ian Andersen's (who now writes about poker under his
real [I think] name) books had a very good, if not overly
stereotypical profile of what the obvious hustler looks like, and how
he acts.

Let's just say I strolled into the Orleans one evening and saw a bunch
of ectomorphic, intellectual looking guys pounding away on the LDW,
and one fat slob who was playing DDB (Paladin rests his case).

I played it once, since I was there, it took me about 3 minutes to
line up the deuces, collected my $1250 and happily went on my way.

Ode to a Frustrated VP Hustler

Oh, what a nasty and bitter shame, it is,
That now there is more than one VP whiz!

If things were only as they used to be.
Before Bob, Jean, Dan and our vpFREE!

All VP Software geniuses should be forever banned.
If it's not voluntary, make it the law of the land!

We know who's at fault for the demise of good VP.
It's very obvious for all smart players to see.

If we could only go back ten years in time,
We'd find FP VP in denoms. from dollar to dime!

All the "rec players" should have been kept in the dark.
Why should they profit when they just play for a lark?

If the hustlers can learn to push buttons with their feet,
They can play three machines, without leaving their seat!

I think that we should leave the way, free and clear,
for all VP hustlers to gather, from far and from near.

They'd be happy then at WYNN, Orleans or the new best play,
without the being pestered by a "flea" even once, all day! (-:

All the "rec players" should have been kept in the dark.

Why should they profit when they just play for a lark?

Death by a thousand cuts, babe! True, The vast majority

of 'fleas'play for a lark, but its the fact that there are literally
thousands of 'fleas'and "BDC Fleas"(Bob Dancer Class fleas)pouding
away evrey day of the year on our favorite games. They have taken a
major toll and frankly its thier right to do so! (Anybody would if
they were handed the golden goose!) But please stop the whining and
pouting here when a good quater/half dollar play gets burned down
cause the fleas descend on them like locusts! The big
bankrolled 'hogs'do enough damage, but unless an ultra-magical play
ala the recent Orleans éxpiriment'comes along, us Hogs get fat on on
obscure,marginal game/cashback combo plays. I personally know of 2
potientially 80$/Hr. going on right now but would never reveal them
here cause I dont fear the fleas per say but rather the lurking
hogs!
