Orleans Downgrade JB 9/6 ,NSU

All 9/6 1$ and up Jacks or Better in the High Limit
area are now 8/5
and all NSU 1$ and up Deuces in the high limit room
are normal Deuces 9/4/4.

All the other 1$ NSU Deuces that I looked at
scattered around the casino were still there.

These were the only games in the high limit room
that I checked.

I was at the Orleans today and looked at the games in
the high limit room. All the worthwhile games in all
denominations there have been downgraded. (I looked
pretty thoroughly at one machine in each of three
banks.) In addition to the NSU and 9/6 JoB that
al55442 posted, the DBDW, BDLX, TDB and BDW have also
been changed. FWIW the $5 9/7 DB progressive is still
there.

I saw no change to paytables outside of the high limit
room.

The recent downgrades to Orleans High Limit room may well be a
reaction to 2x points there all month. We won't know until next month
whether they reinstall the good games. Orleans has a history of
temporary cutbacks in good games in reaction to a promotion, only to
restore the games afterwards.

What really needs upgrading there is the management, IMHO. Anytime you
have to back off a machines player in a non-comp abuse situation,
you're probably doing something wrong.

That's a reasonable conclusion, but it's not something players can do
anything about. My recommendation when you find a casino with dorky
management that you just do the best you can. Try to figure out the
"sensitive" things to avoid from talking to others. It's not really
difficult for casinos to figure out how advantage players play:

  a. They only play on the best machines
  b. They only play during promotions (such as 2x points at
Orleans)

It pays to lay down some camoflage periodically. Playing NSU at Orleans,
Suncoast, or South Coast, on single-point days a few hours at a time
three or four times a year is a slightly positive play and it assures
you that you will keep getting the monthly mailers. Playing only on 2x
point days gives you a better percentage while in the casino, but many
players (including me) find themselves cut off from the mailers if this
is their only play there. Sometimes the best play is NOT to do what the
advantage players do.

They have no way of telling what game you play on a MD / MG machine.
This may change in the next few months.

I take it this is an IGT/Acres update. Is it a standard update, or a
service upgrade at an additional fee?

- H.

There is a new gaming regulation that requires tracking software to
read every meter in a machine. It isn't entirely clear whether these
updates will also map to the current player and might vary by provider.
