Optimums

Hey, Dan!

Does 9/6/5 DDB actually exist? If so, where? I've never seen that particular
paytable, at least nowhere in LV.

Analyzing this game gives a perfect play return of 100.3855%, much better
than the 10/6/4 version.

Hi Brian,

I've never seen this pay table anywhere either, IF the 4 & 5 coin
figures refer to the straight payoff. Perhaps, Dan was referring to
the somewhat common (in Reno) 40 & 50 coin straight flush pay (for
example, 10/6/40 and 9/6/50) and just left off the "zeros."

Several years ago I played a game called Double Double Jackpot. It
was made by Sigma. It was the same line of machines as Flush Attack,
House a' Rockin', etc. It was a 9/6/5 double double bonus game but
the best I can remember it was Kings, Queens, Jacks, that paid 80/160
for one instead of twos, threes, fours. Maybe a VPfree'er who knows
the game can clarify. I was told at the time that the original
payscale was 10/6/5 but the game got hammered so they cut it to
9/6/5. I played this game at Colorado Belle and Golden Nugget in
Laughlin and Binion's in Vegas. But the machines are so antiquated
now that I doubt you find it anywhere, but I think you will find this
game on Frugal or Win.

Many moons ago, Some casino made a mistake on a 9/6 DDB game by accidentily setting the straight to 5. The play was killed by a bunch of greedy pro's, and we did not find out about it till the post mortem.
The Sigma game has always been one of my all time favorites. It started out as a 9/6/5 game, and a super version ( 10/6/5 ) showed up at Texas Station. It was a good deal at the time, and hard to get a seat. Texas killed the machine, and it was at Binions and El Dorado in Reno ( and like you say, a few places in Laughlin ). Mostly a quarter game, the Laughlin machines had these in 50C and Dollars. As far as I know, all FP variants of this game are now dead. PS - You can play all variants of this game using the Frugal VP software.
The closest I've seen to this game recently has been the hard to find , but fun to play 9/6 DDB aces and faces ( 99.46).

I just had a major flashback. Anyone wanting to get a glimpse of VP
history should head on down to John Ascuagua's Nugget in Sparks.
Just off the Noodle Hut on the Victorian Street side and not far from
the poker room is a line of old Sigma machines. Dollar denom.

There's one Flush Attack. It's the 5 flush version. 4 flushes pay 5
for 1 and the fifth pays 25 for 1. It probably comes in a 99.9%.
But if I were playing one of the other machines in the lineup and
someone gave this machine considerable action without tripping the
Flush Attack light I would definitely play it until I collected the
bonus flush.

There are two Double Double Your Money Bonus. But on this payscale
the only thing playable is when it is into the 4 Aces.

There is at least one Double Double Jackpot, but it's the 8/6 version
rendering it unplayable.

And, there are two full pay Deuces Deluxe. 100.3%, I think. Check
it on Frugal or Win.

My last time into Reno I was through the Nugget alot checking the
Double Double Your Money Bonus for the 4 Aces. When it is into the 4
Aces they pay 1600/3200 instead of 800/1600. It's major overlay.
The one thing I noticed was the Deuces Deluxe machines got no
action. Were I wanting to run major comp at Ascuagua's I would
definitely be playing these machines. They have the best payscale in
the whole casino.

But a word of warning! If you familiar only with the modern
equipment you are in for a rude awakening. Good luck.

Hi Mickey,

Before the Evil Empire mentality took hold, Harrah's/Tahoe, my THEN
favorite Northern Nevada casino, had several FP DDJ games in their
M/G bank of slant-tops, located at a right angle to the escalators
leading to the SportsBook. This was one of my most treasured plays
there, if I couldn't spot a $2,500+ quarter 8/5JOB prog., which was
also relatively abundant.

Yes........dream on again about the good old days!

Anyway, you are correct about the DDJ pay table. It was similiar to
a 9/6/5DDB pay table, with face cards (A/K/Q/J) being the bonus
quads, and extra payoffs for Ace/Face kickers with the bonus quads.
As I remember, however the Quad Aces with kicker paid 1600 coins
instead of 2,000.

Even though there were several of these machines in two adjacent
double-sided banks, unless you were up very early in the morning, it
was difficult to snare one. They were very popular. Lucky for me,
that I'm an early riser even on Mid-West time, so I was usually able
to get my DDJ fix before EH joined me for breakfast.

What nice summer gambling vacations we were able to enjoy at
Harrah's/Tahoe from the mid 80's until about 2000! Magnificent
scenery, cool temps, luxurious accommodations, excellent food and
positive VP....... Big Sigh!

I rarely go back to South Shore because of the VP situation but at one
time, besides being an Alpine paradise, it was a VP paradise. And the
Mom and Pop hotels on the California ran only $100 to $130 a week. I
would stay for months. Good luck.

DDJ is still at the GN in Laughlin, scores of them (although I believe
they were brought out of retirement recently).

Double Double Jackpot was one of my very favorite games to play in
the early '90's. There were several of them to found, in of all
places, Harrah's/Tahoe!

As Mickey points out DDJ is the "picture card" version of DDB. The
full pay schedule boasts an EV of 100.34%. Variance is 38.24.

The FP pay schedule is: 1/1/3/5/6/9/50/80/160/320/50/250. The big
quad pays are for high cards with and without high card kickers.
However, Aces + Kicker = 1600 coins instead of the 2000 coins paid
for DDB.

I LOVED this game but I don't believe that it is available anywhere
in LV.

WIN Poker 6, has the game with the above FP schedule, should anyone
wish to try it.
