What is the deal with Rob Singer? He mentioned frequently on this
message board. Is there some cult I don't know about?

yep. Rob used to mix it up here. He left of his own accord.
see www.vptruth.com for Rob's weekly columns, e-mail newsletter sign-
up and link to his book for sale (website free info is sufficient I
think). He writes a column for cardPlayer magazine also.

his money management scheme has merit, but his insistence that you
can profit while playing non-full-pay games using less than optimum
strategy chafes most people at this site. we even have a "Singer"
policy on vpFree which is in the FAQ, (vpFree will reply with the
link I predict) I learned all about it when I first joined here: I
posted that I thought holding the 3RF over a high pair in JoB was a
good gamble as they are close in EV. I got jumped on and beat back by
many posters here, so I've kept that idea to myself since then.

plus Rob tends to incessantly bash all of the celebrities, authors
and marketeers of VP products and books. He's a politically
incorrect "voice in the wilderness" that is worth reading, even if
you have to filter out his repetitive rants.

His "doctrine" isn't as dogmatic as the rest of the gurus, certainly,
so it's more of an anti-cult.

Bottom Line is there's not much leeway in the world of VP on how to
play the game. So to have an alternate viewpoint is much more
entertaining to my mind anyhow.

my 2 cents.
