one more question..

as a newbie would it be better for me to play single line or multiples?
I enjoy playing 5 or 10 hands at a time.

As a newbie or an oldie, play what you enjoy, if the
paytable meets your ER requirements and if your
bankroll allows.

Excellent feedback! I'll add a couple thoughts:

···

------

The key limitation in multiline play is that paytables as strong as
single line play can be a tough find in some cases. VP can be a tough
recreation financially and you don't want to handicap yourself with
subpar paytables. Even a modest paytable cut translates into a
significant reduction in expected results.

Sometimes single line is the only sensible choice, despite a
preference for the excitement of multiline play.

------

As VPA notes, bankroll is a key consideration. Because you're
wagering more per play in multiline, it's necessary to cut back in
base denomination from the single line play that you're comfortable
with. If you play $.25 single line, you may need to cut back to $.05
(or $.10 if offered). Play $.50 single line and $.25 3-play is
comfortable; $.25 5-play a stretch. Play $1 single line and $.25
10-play is within reach; similar caveats apply to $.50 3/5-play as did
$.25 3/5-play in the $.50 single line case..

Overstretch on denomination and you're in for some very uncomfortable
loss sessions; play enjoyment goes out the window. The problem is
that as you reduce denomination, good paytables become increasingly
difficult to find.

So, again, you may find that realities make it most prudent to stick
to single line play.
