I asked this question a year ago, and wonder if the answer has changed.
My once-a-year jaunt to L.V. is coming up. Does anyone know of one dollar FPDW in town?

I know of none and if there was one white elephant left out there it would not be "shared" on this forum, of course there was the urban myth of a $5 FPDW out there somewhere in the burbs and the ghostly kid with the flat brimmed cap and hoody looking for it ...
Won't be that many years before the question will be asked: "Does anyone know of one dollar NSU in town?

The OP's naivete amuses me, but this is in part what has destroyed good video poker over the years.
I know of one $1 FPDW in the entire state of Nevada, and it's location is a state secret. I actually tried to play it late last year, the area of the casino it was in was almost deserted, except for a nickel keno player on a marathon. You can guess what game was on that machine. There may be one on a random bartop somewhere off of I-80 or in Vegas, but
I have seen Triple Deuces in a couple of LV grocery stores, all denoms, it's probably a win with their promo system, particularly at quarters, but, like, why bother?
The kid in the hoodie and 6-pack of Monster in his hand would not be satisified with playing just one..he's gotta play piano lol. and he's really not a kid anymore, he's a grown man. Just looks like a kid.

Not so naive. The Frontier had 2 dollar FPDW machines for years until the day they closed. They were listed in the database and no secret. They were usually empty. Which I have always found curious because to those who preach the "it's easy to play 1200 hands an hour perfectly for endless hours straight" gospel that was a $50 an hour "positive play" being passed up. Yet Dancer, Micky Crimm, the "Queen" were stranglely absent from these machines-at least everytime I was there.
Nowadays they play NSUD and claim to scratch out a profit on cash back and welfare checks. Hmmmmmmm.
The reality (I know it's often missing in certain peoples tall tales) is that unless you hit the 4 dueces or the RF one took a merciless beating on these machines notwithstanding the theoretical "positive number".

I believe that those $ FPDW machines were removed several years before the Frontier closed. Otherwise I would have been playing them!
After the $ machines were removed, I would play two of the .50 FPDW that were side X side. I remember clearly hitting a RF on the left one, continuing to play the right one and hitting another RF before the slot attendant had appeared to process the first RF. My first
ever double RF day!

True enough, well said . A quick anecdote. I was playing one of those Frontier $ deuces and this pro player is playing next to me. She's doing bad and finally taps out. How much you stuck , I ask...ehh..."only $1000" . Ok.
Next day I'm playing and she walks in. I'm watching her closely now, perfect play and fast every time. After about an hour no ducks or RF's and she taps out for another $1000. In true pro fashion , no emotion - poker face "tomorrow's another day" she says , shrugs - and runs out the door.
PS - rumor has it there is a lone $ Deuce machine left over in one of the downtown Henderson dives.

Just what I've been saying for years - most gamblers, even a lot of the knowledgeable ones don't understand volatility and/or don't have a big enough bankroll for the denomination they are playing. $1 FPDW - when it existed - if you played it with no extra benefits like BB or CB has a bankroll requirement of around FORTY THOUSAND dollars, depending on what degree of "security" you want. Even with extra benefits, I wouldn't play it with much under 30K. So losing 1K in one session would be VERY common.
I can relate a lot of personal "tall tales." Losing 15K playing $2 9/6 JoB Multi-Strike for four hours. Losing 20k playing 10/7 DB (a 100%+ game) in one weekend. Losing 10k in a few hours on a 2% advantage play. SHORT TERM results even when you have a big advantage can be brutal - and it takes nerves of steel (psychological bankroll) and a very adequate amount of money (monetary bankroll).

That is the problem with deuces-no deuces you are
always behind. That is why I play jokers/KB. It is
easy to complain about not getting 4 of a kind.
But when they start hitting you can stay even!
The reality (I know it's often missing in certain peoples tall tales) is that unless you hit the 4 dueces or the RF one took a merciless beating on these machines notwithstanding the theoretical "positive number".
Sounds about right. The Wizard:
http://wizardofodds.com/kelly
lists a Kelly ratio of 0.0341915% for FPDW, invert that and you get the Kelly Bankroll: 2925 bets, that's $14,625 on five coin dollars.
But that's the minimum at which point you should stop to avoid burning your entire bankroll. Better to start with double Kelly, which is $29,250 , and stop if your bankroll gets depleted to $14,625. There's about a 10% chance of that happening, with the Jazbo/Sorokin equation you can predict the exact risk. So, that's somewhat risky, but the hairy edge of maximum bankroll growth involves some risk in terms of bankroll volatility.
And of course this is all assuming perfect to near perfect play, mistakes quickly add up.

Mistakes?
Surely you jest. Don't the pro's have the ability to play 1200 hands an hour to perfection for endless hours at a time?
I thought only stupid people like me make mistakes not geniuses like Dancer or Mickey Crimm. They're up at midnight to jump on the next "positive play" for the full 24 hours of play.
Right?
