One Club Points

My understanding is that all One Club points will expire at the end of
the year. Is this true? If this is true, I am trying to figure out how
to use them up. My cash back is easy, but what about my comps. I always
come in to the EW and CB on free room offers, and I seem to get a
silver or gold card that means free food outside of comps. In addition
to this, I won one of the on-line contest that gives me $200 in dining
credit and 2 nites in a suite at the EW. I just can not eat that much!

Can I use the comps in the gift shop? Any other ideas?

I've heard this rumor too but I've not been able to confirm it.
Somebody needs to do the simple thing and ask at the slot club.

I had this similar problem at the Silver Legacy in Reno -- comps that I
I would probably never use. Then I discovered these comps could be
used in the inhouse liquor store (I don't think you can use your comps
for liquor at the EW gift shop). Never mind that prices were 3 times
Costco, I just got, got a receipt, and as dealer in coins, banknotes,
and stamps, gave the bottle to an acquaintence who tipped some business
my way and then, with the receipt took a buisness tax deduction.

As for the dining credits, the wife and I could be your guests at the
Hickory Pit!

Of course another question is what's going to happen after the first of
the year? Same rate for comps and cashback?

It's true. There's more specific information on it at http://www.myoneclub.com

That's why we're going to Mandalay Bay two weeks from today. I've been saving comp.
dollars and points for years just for that very reason, and now that I've gotta use them up
that's what I'm gonna do. The idea of booking Mandalay in September was to still have good
weather while using their water attractions.

So much for the ads in Casino Player for the One Club that said, "Your
comps never expire."

Maybe your comps don't, but the One Club does!

Thanks for all the feedback. According to the One Club
information: "One Club will stay in place at Circus Circus Reno, and
Edgewater and Colorado Belle in Laughlin, NV" It looks like the end
of the year deadline does not apply to Laughlin.

zzyzxvault- Nice try for a free meal, but it looks like there will be
more of a chance in the future to use up my comps.

Cielaszyk- I did not get a notice that my points would expire at the
end of the year. I am going to guess that you have points earned also
at non Laughlin properties? All of my One Club points are from
Laughlin.

Graytleegray wrote: "I don't even have a MGM/Mirage card, but it is
my understanding they flush your comps after a trip." I think you
are on to something here. I am afraid we may see something similar
in the new program.
Here is from the information section about the new program: "After
July 1, you will be rewarded for your play on every trip so there's
no need to save Comp Dollars." They are trying to put a positive
spin on this, but it looks like you have to use any points on a trip,
or they are gone. Not a good deal for us.

We only have points earned at EW and CB. Our notice was from the
Edgewater/Colorado Bell marketing team.
This is what they sent us.

"Dear ...
Starting July 1, 2006 Las Vegas One Club properties start joining the
MGM Mirage Players Club. This means the One Club as you now know it
will be changing. Your One Club comp dollar balance as of Jun 30th will
be redeemable at any One Club property through December 31, 2006*, after
which date it will expire."

Then they give our current One Club information

"In January, 2007 Colorado Belle and Edgewater launch a new, independent
player reward program. You will no longer be able to use your colorado
Belle and Edgewater One Club cards in Las Vegas and Reno. To make your
transition easy, all comp dollars earned from July 1st through December
31st will be carried forward so you can continue using your card at
Colorado Belle and Edgewater to enjoy the great benefits that come with
One Club Membership."

"*One Club comp dollars accumulated before Jun 30, 2006 will expire
December 31, 2006. Comps earned after July 1, 2006 will accumulate and
be used after a zero balance on comps earned prior to June 30, 2006.
Balances current as of June 26, 2006 and will be confirmed in person at
the One Club Desk with valid photo identification."

(Wording is as quoted)

Then they give us a complimentary 3 consecutive night and $30 comp
dollar offer for July 5 through September 28 excluding Sep 1-3.

For whatever it is worth: A host at the Colorado Belle, Sharon
Godfrey, told me that the Circus Circus in Reno will have their
own "One Club" and that "only" the Edgewater and Colorado Belle
will be connected after January 1st. Only is in in quotes because
when I questioned her again about the Reno connection she stated
that fact again very clearly to me.

That is definitive and to the point. I wonder why I did not get this
notice? Why don't they have this information posted on the One Club
website? How many other people are clueless about this big change?
There could be a bunch of unhappy people after the first of the year.
Thank you Dennis for taking the time to re-type this information. Now
I also read this to mean comp dollars, which would be both cash and
comps?

I will have to make one more trip to Laughlin this year to settle up
my older comps. I think I will visit the gift shop and purchase that
crystal paper weight I need so badly for my desk. Or, maybe I will
take a visit to the CB spa, and get pumpkins painted on my toe nails.

Well I did just that. I went to the slot card booth yesterday, and
when I asked point blank about the points expiring at the end of the
year, the gal said that is true. I waited a few hours and asked the
same question to another boothling, and I got the same answer. That
was good enough for me! I had been playing for a few days on my card,
and when I asked for my prior to July comp balance, she said they had
no way to get that information. Grrr. I already had $200 in dining
credits on another offer, so it was off to the gift shop for me and
my wife. We ended up with 4 bags of overpriced useless trinkets. Oh,
I saw a small bottle of Stoli vodka for $20, but no go on liquor or
cigs, and I had to put it back. They told me that cash back was not
going to expire, just comps. I am not taking any chances, so I
cleared out my cash back also.

I do not think they have done a very good job at getting this
information out to players. I can see some people with big comp
balances being very upset when those points vanish.

Was this the Edgewater or the CB? My thinking is that you might get
different answers at different casinos. But I agree that the best
thing to do is to take no chances and assume "use it or lose it."

This was at the Edgewater. You are correct you can get different
answers, but I think we have enough evidence that the prudent course
of action is to use them up as time is getting short.

I might mention that this trip we stayed in some upgraded rooms. I am
not a fancy room kind of guy, but we stayed two nights in a mini
suite at the CB, and two nights in the spa suite at the EW. The mini
suite was in the boat at the vary far end of the Belle. It should
have been called a mini/mini suite as it was maybe two steps larger
than a standard room. The one big difference was a set of French
Doors that opened up to a huge outside sitting area. You can see
these rooms as you walk from the EW to the CB- just look up and see
the white covered sitting areas. The spa suite at the EW was very
nice. It looked like they made two rooms into one. It had a nice sofa
easy chairs, a mini kitchen with table a chairs, two 25" TV's, and a
2 person whirlpool bath.
