I dropped by Jokers Wild to check on the Bonus poker progressive and saw
five suits walking all around. They had "Boyd Group" on their badges. I asked a
slot tech who they were. He said they were from Sam's town. I began imagining
an RV park across the street with a big pedestrian bridge going over Boulder
Hwy. The slot tech said they were there to size up the card system. I bet
Boyd is going to one card for all their properties sort of like Stations. Also
the 2200 acre parcel just south of Jokers is going to have 1200 condos in a
couple of years, that is if they can clean up the toxic waste on and below the
ground. Look on Google.Earth and you'll see old funny colored ponds used by
Basic Magnesium back during WW2. I heard from a local that sometimes they just
poured the crap on the ground when the ponds got full.
Something else you'll see on the Google photo is a dark half circle near
boulder Hwy and another one far to the east. They are the remains of banked
turns on the racetrack built there in the 1940's. No I'm not confusing the one
further south that had both dogs and horses which is now a housing track with
racetrack names. At the "Henderson Speedway" Elvis made the movie, "Speedway"
in 1968. His co star was non other than Nancy Sinatra.
I've written a couple emails to the Henderson Daily News newspaper asking if
they know of any photos of the track in it's prime. No response at all. We're
talking Henderson, a tight knit community. the developer for the condo
project is the Landwell Corp. I bet they control the newspaper too.
So what I'm saying is buy stock in the acres and acres of auto junk yards
just north and across the street from Jokers Wild.
