On my last few trips to Vegas I've seen a lot of this...

A few younger men, usually in their low 20's, pick out someone who
looks to have some money, usually an older man, and they ask the older
gentleman if he would be interested in "bankrolling" them.

Basically, they ask for some money, and promise half or 3/4 of the
winnings back for the loan.

I have seen this quite a bit, expecially ay Sam's Town.

I don't like this.

Has anyone else seen this lately?

I don't think they were talking about bankrolling them for video poker.

Used to happen to Brad all the time when he played a lot downtown. But they just asked for a handout.

Brad often gave winos dollar bills, although I am more of the "give to the Salvation Army for organized programs to help them" type of person. Brad wouldn't listen to me - said they need drinks and cigarettes RIGHT NOW. Anyway, he usually wears bright-colored shirts - so if he had on a red shirt and gave a "beggar" a dollar out on the street, then when we went into the 4 Queens to sit down and play, he would have a stream of them coming up to him. I always figured the news went through the homeless grapevine - find the man in the red shirt!!!

I gave up on my Salvation Army advice to him. He just has a tender heart and wasn't to be "converted." However, I write out a check to the SA periodically - so we are "covering" things all around!
