On a slightly less satirical note...

To accentuate the unknowledgeable player phenomina, while playing $1 9/6 DDB at the Borgata in AC I suddenly heard the "happy song" behind me. I saw the player had hit 4 Kings for a taxable $1,250 on a $5 machine. Looking closer I say that the paytable was 9/5. While 9/6 DDB is not a great game at a 1% take out why play a 2% game for more money hust 3 feet away?

One final argument against "gaffed" machines is, as has been expressed in the past here, that it is completely legal and far simpler to just change the paytable for VP machines. Sure, a handful of sophisticated players such as ourselves and a few others will "know", but (1) they're probably happy to have that group "go away" (yes, they might actually not want the business of those who might either beat their games or at least not generate as much revenue when playing them), and (2) there are PLENTY of unknowledgeable players who will still play a less acceptable paytable, so the amount of $$ the casino makes will still increase. And all this with no risk of losing their license, as might occur with a gaffed machine.

Obviously, since "gaffs" have occurred in the past, not everyone is smart enough to realize that they can make more money without that risk, and although it therefore is clear that there are people out there stupid enough to use the illegal approach, the legal approach of changing the paytable will be the obvious better choice to most establishments.
