Wild in Fiesta Rancho? Hopefully, the Station
management is just upgrading the VP machines and has
not contracted the "Coast Malady" of FPDW removal.

LOL. I think that they had to have an emergency board of directors meeting
of STN just to determine if they would spend $7.99 or $8.99 a gallon for the
paint that they will be using for their Spring spruce up. They're just a tad
bit late in starting. As for the 19th century ducks machines, if you come in
the front Rancho Dr. entrance and you are about to walk directly into the
slant top FPDW progressive, stop and turn right and half of the moved bank
is up against that wall. I seem to recall seeing the other half of that bank
downstairs, but that was after playing an 8 and 1/2 hour session, ready to
leave, and all of my depleted brain cells were trying to remember just where
the hell we parked the car.

What? Didn't they just open a brand new Club Tequila? They always seem
to be updating and adding new games and TITO's. I'm curious. What are
you suggesting that needs "sprucing up?"

Anyway, as of today -- the bank of non-progressive
FPDW clunkers between the row of nickel 10/7 DB
(appears to have been replaced by a bank of keno
machines) and the still existing row of old
progressive FPDW is yet to show up.
I agree with you Nudge; Fiesta should spend a little
bit more and spruce up the place. New carpeting and
more efficient ventillation can do wonder <G>.

Yes. These were originally just south of the upright progressives and half
of them are up against that wall as I indicated.

and on the othe side the one going down in front of the steakhouse)

I'm glad you asked. Yes they did just open Club Beautiful People, a bonehead
move for STN Corp.. Let's look at that move from a business standpoint.
Other than clubs in Green Valley Stn., which that already own, I am sure
that they expect their main competition to be clubs based at Palms and Hard
Rock. Do you really think that the clientele that fit the demographic at
those two clubs are going to venture out away from the strip to come to the
Fiesta and dodge all of the octogenarians cruising around on their four
legged walkers with either wheels or tennis balls on the bottom of the legs?
Will the X Genr's or Y Genr's (what the hell letter are we up to anyway), no
I know, the Z generationers, that's it, the Zero Generationer's, will they
in fact look both ways for the motorized carts with built in I.V. lines
zipping to the bingo room before they cross the main aisle to get into Club
Tequila? My instincts tell me that they wont. OK people, click on the
safety switch to your flamethrower's. I am not being critical of our
handicapped or older generation, merely pointing out the fact that they are
a large portion of the patrons at Fiesta Rancho. No matter how hip, cool,
phat, oh alright, bling-bling too, that Club Tequila might be, the zero
genr's. don't like any association with older folks. I suppose that there is
the one glaring exception of Tony Bennett. I am slightly prejudiced as to
the---now I use the term loosely--- music that they play there. The Z'rs
think that this computer generated techno enhanced bull is actually being
played by people with instruments. In the words of Ferris' school principal,
they are sooorreely mistaken. And yes,I am in a time warp. If Don McLean
truly thought that rock died in the Mar. 1959 plane crash, today's music
would indicate that it is not only dead but absolutely mummified. But, I
digress. My feeling is that in no time the Club Tequila will become just the
worm. The one thing it did accomplish for players at Fiesta R was to make
gift shop purchases with points more difficult. During construction of CT,
workers had to sever the computer cable to the gift shop. Used to be able to
swipe your card for a purchase and the exact amount of points were deducted
from your account. At the present time, let's say you go in and spot
something you want to buy and the total cost is $8.19. You now have to walk
the entire length of the casino to the Amigo Club and get a voucher and then
walk all the way back to the gift shop to complete your purchase. As a
bonus, since the Amigo Club can only issue comp slips in round number dollar
amounts, you have to use $9.00 worth of your points for your purchase. I
have spoken to people in the Amigo Club and asked when we will get the cable
back and be able to swipe the card again. The only answer I get is "Well, we
talked about it at a meeting", but that is about it. Yeah, sure, I love Club
Tequila.
You are right about them adding TITO, but not on any machines that I will be
the long term favorite. I have not yet seen anyone with a winning strategy
for Reel 'Em In or Lucky Larry's Lobstermania.
Most of the suggestions that I have for either cosmetic or gaming
improvements would require management that actually gave a damn. I don't see
that happening at any Station property. I may be more jaded than most
regarding Fiesta as my wife and I spend about 3 or 4 days a week playing
there. They did start painting ceilings on Tue., so maybe there is some
hope. Some negative examples. Next to the back DW prog. by the sportsbook,
there is an AC/heat vent in the ceiling that was cranking out air frigid
enough for Sly Stalone to work out whacking on hanging sides of beef for
Rocky VI and they could still butcher the ribs and take them right to the
cook with no spoilage. After 18 months of complaining to various people,
they must have changed something as the cold is gone and, if anything, you
guessed it, it gets too warm. Maybe the last time that I spoke to them on
this and said that I would be willing to foot the bill for the clear plastic
deflector and any other parts required from Home Depot if they would supply
the labor, may have caused them to act. On the front upright bank DW prog.,
there is a machine that has had the light bulb burned out in the change/help
candle for three months. Again, I have suggested politely that they replace
it to no avail. Speaking of lights, on almost any video poker machine that
you choose at Fiesta R, all of the hold/cancel button bulbs are burned out.
Before you play on your next trip, take one of the hand wipes and clean the
screen on the VP machine of your choice and tell me what you see. Filth is
not good PR. As a macho, I used to get two free Macho Millionaire dinners
per month. Now I get one. Gee, that would be less. OK, I've ranted enough.
The one saving grace that is still worthwhile for a DW player is the
progressive. Let's say that on average you play for prog. royals that are
around $1,150.00 instead of the flat top $1,000.00, and that you play 600
hph. Even though the royal is only 15% higher than non-prog., your hourly
earnings increase by 26%. Not huge, but in a city of slimmer opportunities,
I guess it will do for now.

There is no way they built Club Tequila to complete with those clubs.
They want an attraction in their own neighborhood. That seems plain and
simple.
The gift shop used to be a swipe deal but was cut off with the
remodeling and will be reactivated at some point.
