off topic - the tunnel

Is is reasonable to let a cabbie take the tunnel if you're as north as
Treasure Island? I never stay that far north and am wondering where
the "cutoff" is for reasonable.

Thanks

Absolutely not, it is way out of the way - Mandalay Bay would be about the cut off point -When you take the tunnel you go South, Treasurre Island is North of the airport. if you take the taxi with the $1.20 airport fee, $3.20 to get in, and $2.20/mile and waiting time when incurred, make sure he or she uses th eSwenson Exit from the airport, turns left on Naples and right on Paradise, then left at Twain (becomes Spring Mountain) to Treasure Island. Almost as good, Swenson Exit then left on Tropican, Right on Koval, left on Spring Mountian (same street as Twain) to Hotel -much shorter either of these two ways

Peasach gives good advice. For those in a hurry, the
tunnel/expressway route is the fastest. However, it adds $6+ to the
fare for any Strip itinerary. Swenson/Paradise will add only 5-10 min
to your trip. Avoid the Strip (Las Vegas Blvd) because the waiting
time at lights will eat you up alive.

Mapquest your route in advance to have a better idea of what you're
looking at. Generally, it's sufficient to just tell the driver that
you want to take the shortest route and not the tunnel. I've never
encountered a driver who'll try to abuse that. If you give the
general impression you know where you're going they're not going to
risk a cranky customer when it comes time to collect the fare.

These directions no longer work. Paradise is now one-way heading
south between Harmon and Trop. If you substitute "left at Harmon"
instead of "left at Naples", the instructions work just fine.

Good directions. However, do NOT turn left onto Naples as you can

no longer turn right onto Paradise. The road has been reconfigured.
If you did that, you would be forced to turn ONLY left onto Paradise
and would be heading back to the airport.

It is better to take Swenson to Harmon and turn left and then you
would be able to take that right turn onto Paradise (heading North)
to complete your trip.

SouthPoint and Silverton are the only two hotel's that I would allow
them to take the tunnel, any thing else stay out of the tunnel.
