On the Travel Channel show "Las Vegas Sucker Bets" they offered this
advice about slots. First, always bet max coins. Second, play the
highest denomination you can afford, because the payback percentage
is normally higher on the higher denomination games.
This is accurate advice, I suppose, but I can think of a couple
situations where it isn't.
First of all, on a straight multiplier game, it doesn't make any
difference whether you bet max coins or one coin (or so I've been
told).
Second, again on a straight multiplier game, why play max coins on a
quarter machine if you can play one coin on a dollar machine. For
example, assume the max bet on a quarter machine is 4 quarters. It
makes more sense to bet 1 coin on a dollar machines, because the
payback is probably higher.
Of course, the best advice of all would be to never play slots at
all, but they didn't mention that.
