off topic question positive slot machines

i know maybe 12-15 years ago when Williams Piggy Bank first came out
they could be taken advantage of by waiting until the bank was
something like 28 or 29 credits, then the casinos and slot makers
changed the way the bank paid and it was much harder to find a positive
machine.

My question is: Are there still several different video slots that
still become profitable? I dont want a list or anything. It's just that
almost every time I'm at the Palms there is a group of Asian men
sitting at the bank of VP machines I play, except they are not playing,
they are most certainly stalking a 8-10 machine bank of tied together
video slot machines. I know this bank has like 3 or 4 different levels
of payoff levels. I have seen them sit for a couple of hours without
moving or playing, but the next time all of them are sitting at or
moving to the bank of slot machines. They talk in their native language
and I dont understand what they are saying.

Just wondering!

TD

Most probably you are talking about the people waiting by the Indiana Jones machines. If you watch them long enough, you will see that the different levels hit around the same time but there is no guarantee. These machines at other locations used to have MUST HIT BY ranges on all of the levels but on this version, they have been removed.

Good Luck.

Yep, Wild Bill it is the Indiana Jones, I screw around on the 8-5 BP 2
or 3 coins and double up, if i get above $60 I play 5 credits and still
double up, i love the action, but dont like to lose much. yes, once in
a while i get lucky and the A's do come on average every 13 doubles or
so, but anecdotally they average much closer to 6 or 7 most of the
time. i play differently than Dancer advises, I keep the pairs and 2
pairs and double on trips and above. no double on royals because of the
1199 payoff locks up the machine. probably wouldnt double anyway 1200
payoff at 2 or 3 quarters at a time is a lot of play for the next
several weeks between significant wins.

TD,

Have some fun with these people. I wave to them and try to talk to them. Most of them are nice and most don't speak English. They are there trying to make a few bucks off the tourists. This is their job.

Could someone explain how they are making money sitting on machines?

If you understand how the machines work, it is pretty simple to make money. The best machines were the ones that had MUST PAY BY on each of the 4 levels. The machines at the Palms do not have this. What they do is wait for somebody who has run some money through a machine but has not hit a bonus. This increases the multiplier that you receive when you hit the bonus. So they jump on that machine but only play 25 cents at a time. They also slow play the machines, only play 25 cents every 10-15 seconds whereas others are constantly spinning them. When the bonus hits, they will have 10 free spins of the 40 lines so essentially, $4 in free play. Additionally, they will have a multiplier of 2, 3, 5 times or even more. It is not guaranteed money but they seem to do pretty well because they keep coming back.
