OFF TOPIC of VP, moving to LV, need advice

Hey all you VP people out there! I am making the big move to LV in March,
currently am on a 160 acre horse ranch on the border of Mexico and Arizona
(extreme SE Arizona) and am getting run off our ranch by the drug cartels
here, they want our ranch to stash and run their drug runners back to
Mexico. 8 dead dogs and 1 dead horse later, I am coming to the city that I
love. I will be boarding my horse and need to know a good area to live, I
was thinking a 55+ community since I am 59 and don't want the bullshit from
living next to 20-somethings. Any good, secure areas that are under
$1,000.00?? Hubby in Africa on a marine base working for a contractor, will
be gone for abother 18 months, so just me, my horse and my 60# dog.
Any help will be appreciated!!
Thanks,
Sue Matthews

If you are moving to Las Vegas to get away from the trash on our southern
border, won't you be surprised.

Well, no, I have no complaints with our mexican neighbors that actually
abide by the law and there are many down here that do, I am leaving because
I am opposed to being watched at night with night vision equipment and
having my ranch animals shot and killed by the drug cartel that wants my 160
acres to run his drugs through. So, there is "trash" as you say, anywhere,
but when you are threatened in your own country by another country's
military trained drug cartel, what are ya gonna do? Stand and fight with my
little arsenal? No, I am coming there to live in a gated, 55+ community so
that I may enjoy life again. Thank you for your comments?

I noticed a bingo advertisement for "Double your Royal" at Fiesta Rancho. What constitutes a royal in bingo?

Thanks
-AK

Just curious, are you selling your ranch?

I would try Laughlin, they have places to keep horses there.

You have to play a Bingo session after midnight and then, any royal
you hit on a video poker machine will be doubled up to $500. This is
as of a few weeks ago and I'm sure there are more details.

55+ communities won't let you keep the horse.
But there are a few to choose from.
Sun City Summerlin, Sun City Anthem, Sun City Mac Donald Ranch, and Sun City Alliante.
You will find the homes all single story, and the communities have a list of rules to abide by.
All have casinos nearby with decent pay schedules for locals.

Since I am a real estate agent, let me know and I can sent you some listings to see what you would like. LOTS of choices under one million, as Las Vegas area properties have dropped quite a bit in value.

No, we are planning on demolishing the mobile home because I refuse to allow
those animals to use MY place for a stash house. The land is paid for and
will stay in the family, perhaps some day it will be safe again!
Iplan on boarding my horse, and wanted a 55+ condo due to the fact I
actually like people and am tired of being a hermit here on the ranch for
the last 17 years!. Husband traveled alot with his job, so basically it was
just me, but the heat has been turned up so much down there (USA, are you
listening???) that it's not safe. It was 1 of my fellow ranchers that was
murdered on his ranch down here almost a year ago. (Rob Krentz)
Coincidently, his wife was mowed down by a "drunk" driver here in Douglas
after she was leaving church and is still suffering with her broken hip,
etc. Plain daylight in front of witnesses. Could have been with the Los
Zetas, you never know. The Krentzs' are staying and fighting, but alot of
old time ranchers are selling out. So, there ya go, no boots on the ground
down here, and all of our guys are out-equiped and out-numbered to do much
good. Where are those boots Mr. President???

Thanks for my rant!

Sue,

Sounds like they have you out-gunned, but not out-"manned"!
Best of luck in the new chapter of your life!

From one new be to another come-up find a place to board your horses and then stay in an extended stay for a month and look around. The neighborhood associations in some of the places are as bad as what you are dealing with there. You might decide to buy some SW acreage close to town but out enough to have your own piece of mind. Best of Luck.

I'm thinking of Sun City Anthem when I move to Vegas. I want a retirement community with a golf course. Any word on this community?

Just lease something in Vegas, that way when our government finally gets the balls to protect our border, then you can safely go back to your ranch in Douglas.

Uhh, better make it a long lease, though.

Are you kidding, between the border and the pirates I think the President is handing out keys to the country! You can't get tough on scum bags, the ACLU will be all over your.......

I won't get political since I know it's not ok on this group, but your story is truly heart wrenching. This is so horrible. I just turned a young 55 myself, and I feel like I am literally watching Rome starting to burn. I am old enough to remember such better times in this country, even though I grew up in the turbulent 60s, there was still at least a safe feeling. Now it is just frightening, it's like an air of impending doom, I just can't help but feel this way. If we do not succumb to criminals' exploits, both domestic and foreign, then there's our own government to worry about. If I ran my personal finances like they do, I'd be on skid row. Is anyone awake in the cockpit?

I am just sick of our own government shirking their main responsibility. We need to have some regular people run and win offices in all aspects of our government and get rid of persons in responsible positions that are not doing their jobs.

I'm a little late to the party, but I live in Aliante, down the street from Sun City Aliante, and it's a wonderful community. Plus, there are places to board your horses everywhere up here - lots of ranches just to the north and west of this area, just minutes away in some cases. Sun City Aliante is right by the Aliante Station casino and just down the street from several parks and the local library. While I'm not a realtor, if you have any questions on the neighborhood, I'm happy to help any way that I can.
