No, this was not the one dealt with the gloves. Those were much later and there was some scandal about them. Evidently a few players discovered a flaw where you could keep playing without betting. They disappeared overnight.
Odyssey VP video
IT was certain Williams nine-line video slots where some kind of glitch allowed one to get a 45 coin bet just betting one coin. I didn't know how it was done and didn't want to know. There used to be a hustler in Las Vegas everyone called Peg Rich Rich. He told me a friend taught him how to do it. He left Vegas for California to exploit the glitch. About a year later I ran into him at the Colorado Belle in Laughlin. He was wearing a disguise. He looked like a Rabbi. He told me about gettting busted at Trump Marina in Atlantic City while exploiting the glitch. They confiscated $25,000 off him. He returned to Las Vegas and walked into Treasure Island to work the advantage slots. He stuck his card in a machine, got a tap on the shoulder just a couple minutes later, and was 86'd. He could no longer use his cards in Vegas and had to wear disguises.

I made a mistake in this post. The glitch wasn't in the nine-liners. Perhaps some of you remember the Williams multi-game machines that had the early surrender blackjack (100.4%). The glitch was in those machines.

Another thing I failed to mention is Peg Leg Rich got a 6 month suspended sentence in New Jersey.
