Hi Gang:
Hedy and I got back from our 12-day Las Vegas Odyssey last night exhausted, a
little lighter in the wallet and happy to be home after a whirlwind tour of
five casinos, including Caesars, Bellagio and South Point (where we stayed) and
Wynn and Red Rock (where we played).
Although the bottom line (negative $3,000) wasn't a good one, we did hit four
$1,000 royals (three at South Point) and a number of other exciting hits,
including aces dealt on DB five-play ($1,000), aces with a 4X multiplier on STP
($800), quad fours on STP with a 10X multiplier ($1,000), quad jacks with an 8X
multiplier on STP ($500) and dealt deuces on STP five-play ($500).
We also saw some excellent shows ("O" at Bellagio, Mac King Comedy Show at
Harrah's, Rita Rudner at Harrah's) and participated in a VP tourney at Hilton
(we won $50 each). I also played in Hold Em tourneys at Harrah's and Caesars
without too much success. We also saw three movies during our stay that we loved
... We Are Marshall, Rocky Balboa and Pursuit of Happyness. We recommend all
three, especially the last one. Will Smith's performance in that one was
outstanding.
So, when you factor in our 12 free nights in hotels (including a beautiful,
spacious suite at South Point), all our meals, shows (we used our Borgata comps
to pay for "O"), limo transportation all during our stay and free movie tix,
we probably didn't do too bad. At worst, it was a pretty cheap vacation, which
we guess is what we video poker folks are probably hoping for in the long run.
I would just like to go into a little detail about our first two days at
South Point after we had stayed at Caesars five nights and Bellagio two. We
arrived at South Point down $2,000 due to some bad decisions about playing at Red
Rock (lost $1,000 in less than two hours) and Wynn, where we also dropped close
to $1,000.
Our first two days at SP, to say the least, were spectacular. We played 95%
10/6 DB five-play on STP and I immediately was dealt aces for $1,000 the first
day. We also both hit royals that day five minutes apart, both times holding
three cards. The next day was amazing. We hit aces a total of 11 times plus
Hedy got her 4's with the 10X multiplier as well as a dealt full house with a 10x
multiplier ($625). We also hit low quads ($100 each) 15 times that day. After
two days at South Point we had wiped out our $2,000 debt and were ahead over
$1,000. Unfortunately we still had three more days staring us in the face and
our luck turned around even though Hedy hit our fourth royal on Sunday on the
FIRST HAND SHE PLAYED!!. We did wind up putting through over 200K over the
five days, however, and earned just under $700 cashback (it was double points
there on MLK Day). We love this place and our host was happy to accommodate our
needs, so we're sure we'll be going back.
Another thing that made our stay a lot of fun at SP is that we got to hang
out with two of our favorite people, Pete and Mary Lou Remaley from Kentucky,
and we really enjoyed sharing meals with them at the gourmet restaurants, buffet
and coffee shop.
We're back in AC this Saturday for a one-night stay at Harrah's, then at
Borgata the following weekend where I'll be playing in a pair of WPT Hold Em
events. We also got a free junket offer from Harrah's Laughlin today and we'll be
taking advantage of it (four-night stay) at the beginning of March. We've never
stayed there and we're looking forward to that.
Regards,
CoachVee (Tom V) & Hedy
