Several months ago I stopped getting local's mailers from Wynn. When I asked my host why, she said it was because I was a video poker player. She told me that I was still elegable to participate in other promotional events. I played there again last month and received an invite to a March slot tournament / drawing event. I thought I was doing my host a favor by booking the event through her. What I got instead was a reply that she was refusing to "extend" the offer. Why would a host go out of their way to cancel a marketing offer? The offer did not include a room or food which might come out of her budget.
Odd behavior at Wynn/Encore
Anyone know how hosts are compensated?

Each club has its own formula, but the biggest part is a % of your action.

I'm really suprised that a host would treat you like this. I thought they were there to make the customer feel "special", so that you will give the casino even more action. Not to stomp on you so that you will leave and never come back.
My understanding is that it's usually marketing that makes the decision to cut off mailers, while the host would just as soon have you in there playing at their casino. Sometimes a host will even claim to be able to put you into events for which you received no offer (although in my experience this is easier said than done). Perhaps your host received a directive from upper management aimed specifically against you.
If it's not too late for this event, see if you can book the event through the regular number listed on the invitation and perhaps do an end run around the host. You've got the physical offer in your hand, and I assume it contains an offer code, so the switchboard person should sign you up. If you succeed, what's the worse that can happen... Your host will be upset at you? They'll cut off your mail? They've done that already.

What's the worse that can happen? This is no joke, better put gaming and Bob Nersesian's numbers on your cell phone, in case the casino decides to get rough.

If I had it to do again, I would have tried to book the offer without a host. Unfortunately, it has been my experience that once you are coded with a host, marketing often will not take your reservation and insist that you be transfered to your host's extention. Even though I am generally a $125 to $250 per hand player at most strip casinos, I do my best to avoid being assigned to a host for as long as possible. I don't need their fake smiles and hugs and calling me at home for offers in which I have no interest. Most offers that have value to me come from marketing as a result of my carded play. I know some people like to work the system by bribing hosts with cash or other gifts to try and get more in comps and other "extras" then they may deserve from their play. I always feel a little dirty when I do that, so I usually don't. At this casino I won a good sum of money in a drawing and didn't give my host a "cut". In this situation I probably would have given something, but it was after being told I would no longer get local's mailers, so I was a little bitter. Perhaps that has something to do with my cold treatment. Maybe I'm a victim of my own karma!

Wynn/Encore will make you go through your host. I was invited to a slot challenge two weeks ago and I had to go throught my host Kevin Craddock.
