October Strictly Slots Awards ... Lack of Credibility

Did anybody else look through the Strictly Slots Award lists in the
October issue and wonder whats going on with the ratings?

How could the Orleans win the Best Casino for Video Poker category?
Granted, these ratings are supposedly by the readers ... but to me
this raised two questions: (1) Is there such a long lag in voting
vs publishing date that the often rapidly changing gaming universe
makes many of the ratings inconsistent with more current conditions?;
and / or (2) Are that so many Vegas locals so out of tune with full
pay VP that the deletion of most full pay of Orleans is of no
consequence to them? (The bigwigs at Orleans and sister properties
are probably drooling over that thought!).

There is no other casino in New Orleans! What else could they vote for?

Maybe all of the people from Las Vegas who voted were drunk enough to
think they were in New Orleans! At least the voters from New Orleans
had enough sense to not write in Orleans on their ballots and came up
an area casino (Hollywood Shreveport) as their best video poker
casino -- although I don't know if it too is a wild herring.

Yeah, funny. I did read too fast, but I did think it's strange that they
could even have a "Best of" for New Orleans when there is only one
casino.

Maybe the people who voted saw what I saw last weekend at The Orleans?
10/7 DB all over the place (not just one area of the casino)
especially the .25 cent machines.

Check their advertisers. Is there a correlation?

Rick

I quit reading the ratings when Mohegan Sun had best nickel slots,
and they didn't have any at the time. -Russ

My favorite is "Best Cashback". For Reno, the Peppermill is # 1 and
Harrah's is # 3. Neither has any CB.
