I think I harped on this before but it bears repeating. One of the promos
that was abused was the LVA double point coupon which is not in this year's
LVA. It's too late to do anything about it & the ill will has already been
created.
What is incredible is that there is another double-point coupon in this
year's LVA which doesn't have any limits. After the NYNY debacle, I'm
surprised LVA did not advise them to put in a limit. The coupon is for the
Hard Rock.
Just a word to the wise, on the back of the coupon it says "Management
reserves all rights." Even if a casino doesn't put it on the back they still
reserve all rights & you won't win that argument.
I wish the casinos would use these rights to hammer the few (?) abusers & not
ask the rest of us to subsidize the repair work.
A case in point is when Treasure Island had sent out a double-point mailing.
It sounded like just about every heavy user became comp-limited & I'm sure
more than a few were just innocent opportunists.
Anyway, if this trend keeps up, the coupon runs that we see on the Travel
channel will be a thing of the past. No matter what the expected value is,
the absolute value of an unused coupon is absolute zero.
