NYNY Offers

Hi,
Previous offer Jan.-Apr.... 4 nte. suite ,$250 free slot play, limo
to and fro,$100 dining credit, $75 spa credit did not use it..
New offer Apr.-July..4 nite suite, $750 free slot play, any spa
service for you and guest, cabana at the pool. Sounds better than
previous offer..I can always play enough for food
comps..HOWEVER "THERE AIN'T NUTHIN TO PLAY !!" Mary( gf) said take
the offer and play the short quarter TP prog. Then go to another
casino if their $750 runs out. I said nay.. What do you think? Also
think NYNY is feeling a loss of play after recent demolition of
playable VP ? BTW did anyone confirm whether 8/5 Bonus Poker is
still there on TP or $ machines or was that also done away with?

Beautiful offer!

No one's going to stop you if you take their money/room/dining credit
and run. That's as simple as it gets.

Your choice to give them play, and how much, is really between you and
Mary. Of course, if you choose to play low, it wouldn't be a bad idea
to lay low when it comes to your host.

Personally, I only book into a property if I plan to give them play
(roughly) consistent with past trips. In the case of NYNY, unless I
was prepared to play the machines I knew to be on the property now,
I'd book myself in somewhere else and forego the exceptional offer.

That's simply me and others can follow their heart. However, I
wouldn't be surprised if it's suggested that you "earned" this offer
and should be comfortable taking advantage of it without much play for
that reason alone.

Comped stays (and included "Free Play") are extended in anticipation
of play, not as a comp for past play. They're not the equivalent of
bounceback cash.

If you decide not to play, don't do so with the attitude that no play
was requried since the offer had been previously earned. Simply don't
play because you choose not to.

I am asking myself the same questions.
We booked the April offer and just after buying airfare NYNY pulled
all the decent games.
We heard the JoB triple plays were now 9/5 and thought we would give
them limited action on those. It is a nice place and we don't want
to totally ruin the relationship.

I'll pipe in because of my earlier comments ...

My perspective, if you've already booked your trip in advance of the
news, is that the situation is sharply different. If you decide that
it's the case that you don't have an attractive alternative for a
stay, then it's perfectly reasonable to hit NYNY, anticipating that
your play will be weaker (possibly much weaker if that's your
inclination once you start your play).

That said, I'd still recommend casting about for another stay were it
available where the games are stronger. In your shoes, I'd find that
situation much more comfortable. But at this late date, that's
probably not practical.

------

If you happen to have a particularly strong relationship with a NYNY
host, you may wish to consider giving them a heads up and tell her/him
that since booking your trip news filtered back from "a friend" that
paytables on the games you most enjoy have been cut. Explain that
your play may come in short vs. past trips, but that you'll endeavor
to give decent play to the extend that it's reasonable.

Note in particular that other LV properties still offer the paytables
which were available at NYNY and that you hope they'll reconsider and
restore those paytables.

That'll put you in the best position where you can touch base with
your host while on the property without there potentially being a
cloud over the visit. If they're a decent host, they'll understand
exactly where you're coming from.

Of course, that's for you to evaluate. A weaker host will react
unpredictably and exposing yourself to that risk isn't advisable. But
in the one case where I came into a property expecting due to special
circumstances that I'd being playing "short", my host expressed
particular appreciation for the up front explanation and it put me on
solid ground for setting up a future return.

I thought that they were reduced to even worse than this ?

Thats my problem Harry..I'm RFB@ Caesars but frankly, since this
would be a solo trip, don't know if I want to give them the approx.
20K/day it takes to keep that status. I wanted a casino where the
RFB requirements were much lower( like NYNY). It makes for a much
more leisurely trip. I gave thought to the LVH but I didn't want to
start with them since they are being sold, and I really look forward
to playing 3/5 play when in Vegas since, as you know Harry, there are
very few TP pickin's in A.C. Postings about the Palms ( and the
database) tell me that their RFB requirements are also high and they
do not send consistent mailers to out of towners.

I can confirm that the 8/5 BP is gone on both the 3/5 play machines
and with the four machines by the Bar at Times Square.

There are still the two $ 1-100 coin machines in the high-limit area
that are full pay after five coins.
