NYNY copies Venetian "Warning"

In Message #94579 I posted about a recent Venetian offer that carried
a new disclaimer about maintaining historical average play OR ELSE
(meaning, I risk the offer being revoked during my stay or could even
face credit card charges).

Not to be outdone by a much classier property, NYNY today cautiously
invited me to a January Shopping Spree valid January 14 - 24 with a 3
night stay required. And once again I saw in the fine print wording
I had not seen in any NYNY offers before.

It said that the value of the shopping spree could (does that mean
WOULD?) be adjusted downward or even eliminated if historical play
was not maintained. And to make sure of that, gift cards would be
distributed only on the FINAL day of the trip after play had been
evaluated (by WHOM?).

So, what does THAT mean? I suppose that, similar to Venetian, NYNY
players now come to Vegas only to guess at the eventual value of
their offer.

Or perhaps I just face enough uncertainty in my life with VP session
outcome than to respond to vague offers phrased with this sort of
nonsense.

When making arrangements for such an offer, I would ask what is required of me by the
offer. If it is something that I choose to handle, I accept the offer. If not, I would not
make the reservation. I also would ask for a "paper copy" of what the requirement is,
before finalizing any reservation, of course..

I agree that it is completely unwise to "buy a pig in a poke". But by inquiring at the time
of making reservations, would not uncertainly be eliminated?

Or, am I being naive?

I think it might be difficult to find a reservation agent, or host for
that matter, that would be willing to put a play requirement in writing.

Then I will not make the reservation.

The Stratosphere is sending me offers which are also vague and subject
to multiple interpretations.
When I called the Reservations number, I was told that they will
deduct the value of the offer from my points.
I asked what would happen if I don't have any points for them to
[steal] deduct [will they charge my credit card for the room] but got
a vague response.

If they charge your credit card, simply call your credit card and
dispute the charge. I know my card company will remove the charges, no
problemo. Can't wait to do this to red rock and their silly disclaimer
offer!
