On the subject of Laughlin, has anyone stayed at the Riverside?
How are the
rooms? Have they been updated?
We have a chance to fly a charter from Spokane to Laughlin and stay
3
weekend nights for $219 - a pretty good deal. Just a little leery
of the
Riverside and their rooms!
TIA,
TIA,
I am not sure what you would be leary of?
They will probably put you up in a clean south tower (circa 1995)
riverview room. This is a standard issue room, maybe with a
coffeemaker. A member of another board enjoyed his first time trip
to Laughlin from Washington in November doing the Sun Country
package. Riverside turned around and offered them another short
notice trip with free airfare right before Christmas, which he jumped
on. They provide ground transport, hand you your roomkeys/slot club
card and deal with the luggage.
I prefer the old North tower rooms myself. The vanity is outside the
bathroom. Also, you get a real balcony and can pull the furniture
outside during the right seasons. Even numbered rooms face south.
Sal (original author),
For relaxing and comfort you can't beat the Golden Nugget for a
standard room. They have the fluffiest towels on the river. The
pool area overlooks the river. They recently ripped out the buffet
(no loss) and added "The Deck" restaurant, part of which juts out
into the river.
Like the River Palms, GN tells you on your slot card reader what your
point total (cashback) and your dollar food comp balance is, I like
this. You use your slot card like a debit card at both casinos.
The GN has a sweet new sign-up deal, a mug, a watch, a travel bag
after 50 points. The VP has been diminished, the best games are
Sigma DDJ & DJ. Sigma games are slow, which would drive some Vegas
veterns nuts. You still can play IGT .25 JB 9/6/4700 and Royalmania-
Bonus 8/5/sequential royal (reset at $10k). The FPDW were turned
into Colorado Deuces (16/13) and the DB into 9/6.
My GN bi-monthly calendar includes double point coupons and room
offers. GN only has 400 rooms so you have to book early.
All nine casinos have playable VP, even Harrahs. The River Palms has
got alot of my action. The Pioneer does some lucrative promos and
has the best Craps ($3min/10x) and dealers if you play table games.
I am over to Laughlin at least once a month.
