Nove Italiano (Palms) warning (XVP)...

The restaurant is wonderful. The food is terrific, as is the service,
ambiance, and view.

There were seven of us for dinner tonight. When the bill arrived, it
included a 20% gratuity. This is NOT stated on the menu. No one mentioned it at all.
If I had not known from our last visit that a gratuity was added for parties
of six or more, I might have left a regular tip in addition to the one that
had already been added. Last time, our waiter DID mention it to me. Not this
time.

I said to our waiter, "It would have been nice if you had informed me that a
tip has already been included." His response was, "Oh, it usually is circled
on the bill." Right. By whom, exactly?

So, diners beware! If you have six or more in your party and are not
careful, you may double tip.

This, thankfully, seems to be spreading. At tournaments at the
Venetian, the comps say that the bill includes sales tax and
"gratuity." I assume many waiters have been double tipped there, too.
I've used them at least 4 times and it's never been mentioned to me.
Finally, the charade about what's mandatory masquerading as voluntary
seems to be coming to an end. Hopefully, the very word "gratuity"
will be long gone soon.

Indeed. There are times it feels like patrons should
be issueing W2's to casino/hotel/restaurant employees.
