Notes

I've gone to Laughlin once a year for the last 3 years just to keep my
accounts active & because travel to & from is 9+ hrs each way. I used to be
there 6 times/yr but changes in machine inventory & doubts about fairness in
events (drawings & tournaments) have led me to stay closer to home
(Reno/Tahoe).

Even so, I still like Laughlin for its friendliness & the fact that you
can walk all over it. I've got good memories of every casino & the visitors
centers that used to exist inside & outside of town.

Edgewater change to come: The Monterey Tower is coming down & will
probably be replaced by a large tent. This is the 3-story U-shaped tower next to
the parking garage.

Riverside: This is probably old news but I haven't been keeping up with the
changes in Laughlin anyway the the old FPDB in high limit is no longer
full pay!

Pioneer: this isn't a change but I talked to an old-timer who tells me that
the river bar FPJB hasn't changed in 2 decades! It's an 8-coin token & you
buy the tokens & drop them in. I remember yrs ago, they opened one up &
showed me the card which showed lots of short-pay RFs which meant that those
people were helping to build the progressives with no chance of hitting it
themselves. (Progressive is on RF, SF & 4 OAK with base at 5-coin level but
there's also backup meters.) Pioneer has converted a lot of their old
coin-droppers to tickets but still has a lot of the old machines.

Harrahs: still can get $-for-$ usage at the gas station across the street
but the day I tried it the pumps were shut down so had to buy snacks.

...that is going to be a mess for awhile with the main entrance right there.

...that is true about the $1 DB. You could still play some $1 Jacks in clunkers and NSUD in TITO, but I have not made an official walk-about in awhile.

...it is true that these IGT bartops take up half of Sassy Sue's Saloon. But they did put in bill acceptors a few years ago. Tokens do clunk out, but the bartenders still can rack them up for you. One coin play still gets you a drink comp. The south side of Sassy Sue's has 11 Bally Gamemakers with .25,.50.$1 Jacks and Triple Deuces, down where us low rollers hang out

The three-way meter set-up is correct, but the quad one does reset at 200. Last trip I saw the royal one at $4001, so I don't know about a back-up anymore. The SF can get up there too, in August it was $1200+.

Harrahs: still can get $-for-$ usage at the gas station across the street

...that reminds me, I need to put on a Tier point next trip to reset the six month comp clock. My $38 in Total Rewards just might get a couple of cheese burgers and Pepsi-colas.

I too have cut my trips to Laughlin to about 3 a year due to the machine inventory, but I still enjoy the town. I also am finding greener pastures in the Tahoe- Reno area. I am curious about your doubts of fairness in the drawings and tournaments?

That is interesting about the Edgewater Monterey tower. I find it amusing that they are going to put up a tent in it's place. It seems a more permanent structure would be better, as a tent is not a good venue in the summer with brutal temperatures. I have to assume they are having trouble filling the present room inventory with plans to reduce the amount of hotel rooms.
