Well, I am too old to go to Vegas for New Years Eve celebrations. I
can't imagine being intoxicated and being that packed together. So
they close the Strip, when? How many fireworks displays are there?
Who has a NYE Vegas story? The older the better.
I have not had a cool NYE experience since my restaurant days 1979-81
when I lived in Champaign, IL.
300,000 tourists in town for New Years. They expect the strip to be
shut down by 9pm at the latest...

I went to the Fremont Street celebration last year--$30/head (you can
pay at the gate). Big Bad Voodoo Daddy was excellent, and they're
coming back this year, along with 38 Special. The crowd was happy and
rowdy, but not unruly; security didn't have to step in much.
Possibly unreliable rumor: I heard today (while taking care of a real
estate exemption at the county courthouse) that if the high winds
don't calm down, they may have to cancel the fireworks displays. I
hope that's wrong, or that the winds will calm down enough that there
won't be a problem.
