Not The Host With The Most

From: BANDSTAND54@AOL.COM

Has anyone ever changed a host because of dissatisfaction?....if so 1) How is this accomplished & 2) What was the results

Yes.

A high-roller relative asked once why we favored one casino over another that he liked a lot, and we said because we got lots of good offers from one, and basically nothing from the one he liked.

When he found who our host was, he went and talked to his host, had us switched over to his host and we've been treated very well at this casino ever since.

The "dud" host was a default host assignment because of some short term atypical play on a high limit machine. Apparently that one trip didn't excite the host enough, and subsequent play wasn't up to his expectation, I guess he just wanted to host high roller players. Our current host has been more than happy with the play we give, and we've been more than happy with the treatment from the host.

We've also never heard anything unfavorable about our current host, and he's treated anyone we've introduced to him well too.

Being introduced to a host by a player that the host likes definitely helps a lot. It also helps to find out which hosts at the casino you are interested in cater to the level of play that you like to give. Often we've found that default host assignements do not match well with the play you are going to give in the future, and a host that doesn't know you and isn't cultivating players at your level will likely not be the best fit for you.

If you don't like or get much from a particular host, definitely change. It's unlikely to hurt, and can definitely make things much better.

It also helps a lot when you first talk to a host (especially if you are coming in cold as we did at one casino) if you let the host know realistically a ballpark of how much you do play. Setting appropriate expectations goes a long way towards having a good relationship. If you don't talk to the host, and all they have to look it is one or two play sessions, they can easily get unrealistic expectations (either too high, leading to future disappointment on their part, or too low leading to lack of initial interest or responsiveness) about what you might bring to the casino.
