First the CB & EW just rolled out the new Marnell "Access Card". They are
advertising a 1.2% card (.2% cb +.7% comps + .3% free slot play). It is three
tiered and are being secretive on what it takes to move up in tiers.
The old clunkers' days were numbered at CB & EW anyway. But it was
disheartening to see Sigma and Bally completely vanish. It appears CB/EW are 100% TITO
now.
It is true the bartops took the biggest hit across the board. Will 98 1/2%
(KBJW 7/17/4700, Bogus Bonus 8/5/150 and Jacks 9/5) be good enough on the floor
to make the program playable?
The key is what kind of promos and mail players will get. Old CB & EW had a
food card (gold, silver or white) comp deal and up to five nights for stronger
players. Will they still have strong RFB/LFB programs?
Their first summer long promo seems to be geared to locals...a weekly drawing
with a Big Bang Finale for Labor Day weekend.
Time will tell.
