Northern Nevada VP adventure Trip Report

Very interesting trip report, Tom! Thanks for taking the time to write and post it for
the rest of us to enjoy!

I also fly in to Reno four to five times per year. I LOVE the VP there. I used to only
go to Reno in the heat of the summer. Now, I sometimes prefer going there than to
LV, which formerly was my fave destination in the whole, wide world.

I've visited Carson City many times in former years, when traveling from Reno to
South Lake Tahoe. Back in the days when we were comped at Harrahs/LT, for
playing many hours of FPDW!!

I have fond memories of stopping for a great steak dinner at the CC Ormsby House
Restaurant, followed by an hour or so of VP on very good paytables, The last time
that we stopped there, probably 8-10 years ago, the hotel was in bankruptcy, the
VP was history, and the restaurant was on the wrong side of mediocre.....just like
Harrahs/LT VP these days. I now just stay in Reno for the entire visit.

I agree with all your comments about the Atlantis. It is my casino of choice in Reno.
I have received the same great treatment there that you have enjoyed. Comped
Concierge Tower room, free breakfast, hors doevres, and Internet computers in the
lounge, in addition to wonderful host service. The superb VP inventory is just the
whipped cream on my strawberry shortcake!

The purpose of this trip was to celebrate the culture ( and sample the video poker ) of Northern Nevada. It was a buddies trip with my good friend Brooklyn Bruce. We would

Thanks Patricia - I've enjoyed reading your TR's also. I don't find it profitable to hit LT anymore since they decimated their VP inventory. One can make a strong case for a 2 night CC side trip
* 30 - 40 minute easy drive trip
* cheap lodging near Casino Fandango and Nugget
* historic town with museums , restaurants , and nearby attractions ( like Virginia City )
* tons of full pay machines hard to find anywhere else including Pickem, super-aces, fp deuces progressive

regards...Tom
