As a courtesy, I almost always e-mail a poster to ask for consent before I cross-post their message to another group; I just did it a couple of times this week, as a matter of fact, regarding posts on these same groups. But THIS time I'm cross-posting to VPFree without _anyone's_ consent, 'cause I'm pissed off, ... and that's usually hard to do.
Kerry, I don't know who this "muborwor" is (whose post appears below), but what he just posted is absolute NONSENSE!!! I'm restraining myself considerably from using much deserved stronger language right now. WinPoker is a fabulous group, along with several others that I highly recommend (more info at the end of this post). But, in my opinion, the _PREMIER_ VP group where you will obtain the most information is VPFree (you definitely need to check out the extensive pages that Tom Sims has worked hard to create). I don't think you can find, as a rule, a friendlier or more helpful group, notwithstanding my heated reaction in this post; I said "as a rule" because there are certainly occasional posts which are unfortunate, but they are relatively rare in comparision with many, many groups in which I was/am a member. Often those exchanges are due to newbies, while for the most part the old-timers and more prolific writers are just as polite and courteous as they are helpful with their considerable knowledge. There are very few 'skirmishes' [the beginnings of flame wars], thanks again to moderator Tom Sims who gets the firehose out at the first sign of smoke; he not only works conscientiously to keep things running smoothly, but he also had the vision to create FreeVPFree which is an unmoderated group for discussions that are inappropriate for VPFree (I've never joined that last group because I just don't have the time for more things that are not appropriate enough for the regular VPFree group). So please be sure to visit VPFree to see for yourself. As I said, the following post is nonsense: .....
Let me just add that if you join vpFREE, be very careful not to voice
your opinions, even if grounded in mathematics, because if they do
not conform to their beliefs, you will be made to have a very bad
time. So read the FAQs there, and don't go against them, or at least
don't say anything agaist what's in them.

Frankly, I'm actually a bit astonished at such a blatant a misrepresentation. It is so dishonest, it is shocking; I read just about every post that is sent through VPFree, and go back to the archives if I'm off-line for awhile for some reason, and especially in recent times since I replaced my computer and have not yet reestablished my message filters. I just can't see what this is based upon except possibly for the briefest of criticism by perhaps only one or two people. I sure can't recall any threads where anything even close to a large number of posters gave _anyone_ a hard time. The most recent confrontation that I can recall was prompted by a newbie who provoked the group by using unwarranted profanity, and even that resulted in only a few of what I would consider to be very 'civil' replies, and then the guy says he's going to quite the group because of it. I'm not saying that 'muborow' is one and the same person. I don't know who he/she is, but you got my point.
Finally, Kerry, here are a couple of other groups that I also highly recommend: acvpp@yahoo.com [Atlantic City Video Poker Players] and frugalvp@yahoo.com [although it seems like it is primarily focused on the computer VP tutorial, "Frugal Video Poker", named for gambling-writer Jean Scott and written by Jim Wolf (both very nice people).
Good Luck, and I hope to hear from you on VPFree.
