Well, I didn't think that _YOU_ were planning a suit, but you never know
if some idiot out there will read your post and think: "Hey, that's a
pretty good idea." Just thought I'd do my part to try to discourage
that sort of thinking, especially since I figured that this is probably
something that has never been discussed here before and some folks might
find it interesting. That's why I put it under its own thread and

Too late. Does gambling authors promoting mathematical
systems which they know can't be used in the real casino environment makes them and
the casino's liable ring any bells? Does anyone know if the (Doug Grant?)
lawsuit (blackjack)against Atlantic City was given any merit at all by the courts?
Keep up the good intentions they are very interesting.

OH NO!!!! You've spoken The Name of the Beast! Let us pray that this
has not awakened the Beast from his dormant state!

Roughly half of Doogie's lawsuit was dismissed and the rest was remanded
back to the lower court. I don't recall ever hearing if the rest of it was
resolved. Doogie also filed another suit directly against a handful of
people from the rec.gambling community. That suit disappeared almost
as if by magic. It seemed as if Doogie's lawyer sprouted a conscience
and dropped Doogie as a client, but nobody is really too sure what
happened. Some deadlines were missed, so the case was supposed
to be dismissed after a certain date. Then later, out of the blue, some
of the participant received a letter that said something about a settlement
even though nobody had ever signed anything at all, much less anything
that resembled a settlement. Very strange.

Last I heard, Doogie had grown bored with terrorizing the gambling
newsgroups and had moved on to terrorizing some political newsgroups.
I stopped reading newsgroups almost entirely a few years ago, mostly
due to a lack of time. Web/email based groups such as this one are
vastly superior in many ways (no spam, etc.) but I suspect the audience
is also much smaller.
