After last weeks discussion where someone did not receive any paying
hands on a 50-play machine and it was calculated that the odds were
something like 3x10 to the 27 septagazillion to 1 of that happening
under the hold at that time, I had a related experience this past
weekend. I had a 2-card draw on a 50-play JOB with no wins. When
nothing showed up in the win box I was trying to figure out what had
happened when it dawned on me that I had simply missed on everything;
No trips, no 2-pr., no high pair, no straights, no flushes, NADA. After
I thought about it a little bit I figured that it was probably not that
unusual since I held 3 to a sf with one gap and no HC's. (I hate that
hold)!! I'm not smart enough to figure the odds, but it was the first
time I remember seeing it although I play a lot of 50-play. I guess the
machine was gaffed <G>. (Don't get offended Bill; I'm just kidding).

I once held a FL4HO on a fifty-play and missed all fifty draws.

It is interesting how people pounce on an unlikely event and say it
cannot occur. They confuse likelihood with truth. And the truth is
that the only time probability says an event cannot occur is when the
probability is zero.
For example, if the vpFREE membership were a large enough sample you
would find a person who drew back-to-back royals on consecutive hands.
It is an extremely unlikely event. But to deny and refuse to accept
the possibility of such rare events is simply a form of mathematical
self-deception.

Me too, and a few times where I went 0-50 with 2 pair. And once, at
the end of the coin dropper era, where I needed to get to 405 coins
for a handpay, no way am I touching those filthy coins, 50 cracks with
AA on a Super Aces machine, holding 395 coins. Yep, improved to trips
precisely once. So I had to play one more hand. Result? Flopped $20K.
You never know.

Plays that stand out in my memory include a being dealt 4 to a RF twice
on a 100P in a 15 minute time span and not completing even 1 RF!
As for dealt RF's, the first RF I ever got was in 1987 and was dealt.
I have played frequently ever since (over $2 million CI so far this
year) and never been dealt another RF.
On the up-side, twice I have had 3RF's in one day.

I've had probably 7 or eight dealt royals. Like you my very first
was dealt. The dealt royal represents about an eigth of a percent
of the payback. 800 divided by 649,740 or .123%.
