Some blackjack tournaments - the Tunica area is famous for this - will
award all or part of your prize as the crappy one-use promo table chips. Yup,
one play only, you give up the chip whether you win, lose, or tie. The
serves to lower the true value of the prizes by a bit over 50%, at best.

You might be jumping the gun with your rant about the situation. Find out
if they will W2G/1099 you when they give you the slot credits. I haven't
had the problem (opportunity???) to explore the possibilities if they
don't. And that's all I'll add about that matter - use your imagination.

I've been down the "promo chip" road and think your 50% is an excellent estimate, and perhaps 40% if you're a bit more conservative.

My advice to the $50K winner (which won't be me since I won't go) would be to play it through the best full-pay machine THAT WILL ACCEPT SLOT CREDITS (another Venetian caveat) at the lowest possible denomination. Why so low? Because if you pompously head to a $100 full-pay machine (if there is such a thing there) you could theoretically deplete your $50K in less than an hour in a bad spell and have little to show for it. Even worse, you'd have nitpicky W-2's along the way. I hate losing, but I REALLY hate it going home with a stack of W-2s.
