Nickel VP in KC area

Just got back from a run to KC.

Isle of Capri....9/6 (99% paytables) DB with a twist:
4000:RF
400:ST FL
1000:Aces
400:2-4
250:5-K
45:FH
30:FL
20:ST
15:3ok
5:2p
5:JOB

These machines at IoC (against wall behind "down" escalator) are coin
drop with handpay above 1000 coins. They paid off pretty good for me!
2 Quad Aces and several 250 and 400 quads plus one St Fl. Might have
trouble getting a machine though. They are popular with the "Pick-em"
and "Keno" crowd.

St Joe (Terrible's) has regular 9/6 DB nickel slant top.

AmeriStar: 8:5 DB at nickel level. At dime, it's 9/6. Three banks,
one close to cashiers cage upstairs and then on either side of the
wall in the center of the casino at the top of the "up" escalator.
Quarter machines are also 98% machines (9/6). Yawn!

This is a followup on the previous message since I guess I can't edit
messages.

A week after the trip to KC, my wife and I took a day-trip to the
casinos north of Topeka, Kansas. First stop was at what used to be
Harrah's but is now just "Prairie Band" operated by the Pottawatomie
Tribe. Their nickel machines were pretty bad, but along the north
wall, there are some quarter Gamemaker machines that have the 9/6 DB
game with 1000-coins for Aces and 400 for Straight Flushes. While not
"full pay" this is pretty darn close.

The nickel machines at the Golden Eagle are definitely the only ones
worth playing. They do have 9/7 DB and 9/6 DDB on ONLY the four
machines in the very back of the casino. I did very well on these
machines. I played in the neighborhood of 5 hours on these machines
at a rate of 800+ hands per hour. Most was on the DB game since it
had the best EV. I came out $110.00 ahead after that play. I hit
nothing greater than 800 credit Quads, but I certainly hit my share of
all the quads (except for the 2000 coin aces with kicker on DDB).

The only negative things I have to say about the four machines in the
back at GE is that one has video so bad that you can barely make out
the red suits. Another one is pretty fuzzy on the pay tables. All
four of them are coin drop as are all the machines at the Golden Eagle.

They do still have $3 blackjack and will let you play two spots
without doubling the minimum bet. Employees there are very friendly.
I was surprised that they remembered me and called me by name before
looking at my player's card. Of course, they know me all too well at
AmeriStar too <sigh>.

Hey Mike.

Sorry this isn't VP related, has Prairie Band got their new rack of
chips yet or are they still using the Harrah's chips?

Thanks for any info you can give me (I collect chips along with
playing VP).

I watched a lot of BJ at Prairie Band, but I really didn't pay any
attention to the chips. I collect them too and never even thought
about them getting new chips! Next time I'm up there, I'll remember
if you will do the same!

As for BJ...I just can't get over how active those tables are. Double
Deck games with $25 minimum on a table where you can ONLY double down
on eleven....NOTHING ELSE! No Double after Split. Or maybe that was
Single Deck (6:5). They really need to work over their table rules.
Or, maybe they don't. They sure seem to have no trouble getting 3 or
4 people at a table wagering $50 to $200 a hand! And no one is
counting cards. I know because I was backcounting and no one was
raising bets on positive counts!

Sorry to report, but this improved 9/6/4 DB game only returns 97.6%.
That is pretty bad in any book.

I could definitely be wrong on this Jim, but I think it is 9/6/5 which
returns 99.047%. Still not full pay. Variance on the 9/6/5 version
is 34 and it's 35 on the 9/6/4 version. I'll have to check out Isle
of Capri in KC and also PBC (formally Harrah's) for this payout on
straights....unless you know for sure they only pay 4 coins?

I was using your detailed paytable from the msg re: IOC KC.
Since you didnt state a difference on the straights I used 9/6/4.

If it is 9/6/5, then that isnt too bad.

Happy Royals
Jim
