Nicest casinos in Reno area?

I'm going to Reno later this summer, and I wanted to know from the locals here as to which casinos there generally have the best atmosphere and vibe. Does Reno have fancy or upscale casinos like Vegas does?

On a separate note, do any of the casinos in the Reno area offer a cheap buffet deal for a good buffet (similar to how Red Rock and Green Valley do in Vegas)? These can be at more low-key places, as I just want to see the nice fancy casinos and probably not eat or gamble at them.

Is it worth seeing the casinos around Lake Tahoe?

Thanks in advance,

John

Well, downtown the TriPlex is a definite notmiss (CC, legacy, eldo)
Also, peppermill and Atlantis are fun to check out.
As far as play goes, if you can catch a point multiplier day at either Atlantis or JANugget, you'll be in good shape.
The buffet at Eldorado or Atlantis is probably the best in town, (both value and quality)
Lake Tahoe casinos have nothing...but the lake itself is definitely a must see...

Tahoe casinos are equivalent to Harrah's or Eldorado in Reno, but don't dare let this keep you from going to the lake.

I'm not a local, but a Reno regular. Eldorado isn't the fanciest place, but their buffet is first-rate. Peppermill is the fanciest place, and certainly unique. Golden Nugget-classy. But their buffet is so-so. Atlantis in the middle, on both counts. None of them I would call cheap, except Circus-Circus, but it's a gastronomic gamble. Sign up for the clubs and maybe get a discount.
