newbie with ??s about Mohegan Sun

Hi everyone,

just joined today and have been catching up on reading the old posts
and have a couple of questions;

I go to MS a couple times a month and play about 75% Vp and 25% slots
(trying to wean myself) at the .25 denomination. i was there last week
and earned 46 points on my card in about 9 hours. that's pretty typical
of my play. i get mailings for $59 nites and a $25 bonus card. I have
never had any conversations with a host like some of you have had. does
my play warrant that? How do i go about talking to one. Would they seek
me out or should I contact them, or do I need to play more? Any advice
would be appreciated, thanks

There are individuals here who regularly played $5 VP and were not contacted
by a host for months. My guess is that you are getting everything you can
expect from MS and until you move up (not recommended given their current
selection) you probably won't need a host.

Anyone can seek out a host, even if a low-roller; they rarely seek
you
out at MS. Most are dressed nicer; the males wear a suit. They can
be
found at the front of each lounge where they swipe your card for
admittance. Roughly 35 points will get you in. There is also often
a
host at the front of the Earth's high limit slot room and in the
office
in the back left of the room. Sometimes there will be one helping
out
at a player's club booth. The best time to talk to one is when they
are not busy -- often late at night. You want to find a host that
you "click" with and seems interested in you. I have found some to
be
very friendly to very standoffish. Even though there are set
policies
in place for comps, there is still room for some subjectiveness and
discretion to people they like or dislike. It is acceptable to have
to
ask for anything you want, and they'll say either yes or no without
reservations. Many will speak with you matter-of-factly and give you
hard numbers when asked. Sometimes a low roller can get good seats
to
a popular concert the day before the show, just because they set
aside
too many seats for VIPs that remained untaken. If you want tickets
to
a WNBA game, they'll accommodate almost anybody. You might also want
to ask for things that do not cost the casino much money such as a
comp
for the buffet. Or you might also get a cheaper rate at the hotel if
you ask on the night that you are there when rooms are still
available
and too late to get filled; many have gotten $39 rates.

If you want to improve your position for comps, it is most efficient
to
have 50 heavy gambling days in the year. Even if you do not have
that
many, it's best to gamble heavy, or not at all on any given day (6am-
6am). Light days will actually hurt your numbers and averages; on
those days you might think not to use your card.
