New Year's Snub

Hi Gang:
Hedy and I got a jolt of comp cutback reality today when we were informed by
our host at Harrah's AC that we were NOT invited to either the 5:30 or 10:30
New Year's Eve party in the main ballroom.
Our New Year's offer this year is a two-night stay (Dec. 30 and 31) plus two
tickets to see the David Alan Grier (who??) Show on New Year's Eve.
This was pretty sobering since we are Seven Stars customers with over
160,000 base rewards credits for the calendar year and have ALWAYS been invited to
the late New Year's Eve gala party at Harrah's.
Last year, we even turned down the offer in favor of dinner in the
steakhouse and two tickets to see Brad Garrett, but it would have been nice to know
that we were at least invited this year.
We were wondering if other Seven Stars guests at Harrah's AC have
experienced similar or is it just that Harrah's is not too happy with our bottom line
at their casino this year. We have had an exceptional year there with a bushel
full of tax-tickets hits, but we have a long history with this casino and
know that some diamond card holders have been invited to the "B" party at 5:30.
Any input or information will be appreciated.
Regards,
CoachVee (Tom V) & Hedy

Based on some conversations I've had with other Harrah's players
that are knowledgeable (not at Harrah's AC, but other locations), I
have strong reason to believe that having a lucky streak is liable
to earn you membership in the "no mail" or "greatly reduced offers"
club at Harrah's. This seems to be a very recent policy change at
Harrah's, and I don't know if it's casino specific, region specific,
or a global HET change. It's also an extremely stupid policy.
Practically everyone will experience a period of strong positive
fluctuation sooner or later, so if you take such a policy to its
logical conclusion, almost every high limit player will get backed
off eventually. Idiots.

David Alan Grier was in the original cast of In Living Color, and a
pretty funny guy, you may or may not like him. Don't know what his
show is like.

Jim Byrnes is back at Harrahs AC in a senior marketing position. He's
clearly an Enemy of the People, just some career brownnoser who left
Harrahs AC to take a better job at the AC Hilton. He and Resorts were
a perfect match for each other. Of course, knowing the way Harrahs
thinks, my criticism of him will be looked at as high praise. Hey, it
works for me, too lol.

Now, Jim, my man, let me offer you some friendly professional advice.
Your property is pretty much unplayable the vast majority of the time.
Actually, I don't mind you being there at all. The 9-6 Jacks has a 1%
theo, which is at best a break even proposition to play (and a waste
of my time, to put it succinctly). So, why not just make all the games
8-5, you know you want to have slots set them that way, and we'll see
what your bonus checks look like next quarter, and see how many hosts
make their numbers.

I'm trying to figure out how long, in this particular point in time in
the industry, can marketing and slot operations execs blame the
players for their screwups? Probably forever. Blaming the players
gives the suits an opportunity to pat each other on the back for their
own incompetence.
