New Video Poker Game - Bonus Discard Poker

I have a newly patented video poker game for everyone to try. The game is called Bonus Discard Poker and the instructional video is located at: http://youtu.be/Dzthk0ogppI

The demo is located at: http://gagstan.com/cards/

I’m still working out the math, but all feedback is welcomed!

Well, I just watched your youtube instructional video and then proceeded to your demo. Although informational “pop up” boxes appear when I click the “How to play” and “Information” buttons, nothing at all happens when I click on the “Deal/Draw” button. If this is intended to be a functional “demo”, it seems to not be working at present.

Update to my previous post. I went back to close the window with your demo screen and gave a few more clicks to the “Deal/Draw” button. As I did this I noticed that the credit meter kept decreasing by “10” with each click - but no cards were being dealt.

I just played it and everything was fine. Did you try using Chrome as the browser?

When you first get to the page, you should be able to click the deal/draw to initiate gameplay. Try with Chrome and please let me know if it works or not.

The game is played by using 10 credits per hand, so that part of it should be okay. Try Chrome and let me know if it works or not. I have only had a few issues trying to play it on the ipad or from my phone, but no problems using my computer.

Could be an interesting diversion, but not something I’d play for serious money.

I’d gladly play it for real, but perhaps that’s because I played 20 hands and was up 210 coins.

The thing I didn’t see right away was that the pay table for the ‘discard’ hand only use the 3 best cards out of the hand, so for instant, 3 diamonds would be a ‘flush’ and pay the multiplier. Similarly, 5-6-7 would be pay the straight multiplier.

Maybe I just just lucky, or maybe I need to play more games, but it was almost too easy to win if that makes sense.

while i have no idea if this game would have broad appeal, i personally think the concept is a lot of fun, and i’d love to see it in casinos.

that said, wow does your paytable need work.

i played two sets of 100 hands, had a return of over 250% in each set, and didn’t feel like i was running especially hot. i’m also sure i was playing very suboptimal strategy. (though not as bad as the example plays in the video!) i’m sure i could beat the game betting 20 credits per hand, and you’re only requiring a bet of 10 in your demo. it’s hard to dislike a game where you always win, so at this point in development, i’m not sure how useful the feedback you’re getting will be.

my intuition says you’re going to have to reduce the top multipliers, reduce the straight multiplier, and put a qualifier on the pair multiplier, to get anywhere close to a 10 credit EV. not that you should trust my intuition, or anyone else’s. hire a programmer to do the analysis, if you haven’t already. it shouldn’t cost more than you’ve already paid to get the patent filed.

once the paytables are adjusted, the game will mercilessly crush anyone playing bad strategy, far more so than regular VP games. optimal strategy will be very difficult. i’d think that would be a problem for long-term survival, but Ultimate Texas Holdem has the same characteristic, and it’s doing pretty well.

good luck. you’ll need it.

Thanks for the feedback. I agree the next thing to work out is the math for the game to make it a 98% game. The strategy gets complicated on a dealt full house or when the discard already contains a high paying multiplier.
