New Ultimate X?

This was very traumatic for me. I hope someone can explain it. I saw
many multipliers on a machine at the Mirage and when I changed the
number of coins bet, they disappeared. The machine looked a little
different than other Ultimate X machines. It certainly acted
different, too. Hoping nothing was different, I played the hand and
got no multipliers. I then discovered that there were vast numbers of
multipliers apparently left on the machine, but the same thing
happened again on my second hand. On the machine across from it, I
saw many multipliers apparently left, but I wasn't about to go through
that again. They're back to back, near the buffet, in case anyone
wants to try to figure them out.

I'm aware that on normal machines, when the last hand was a pay which
was multiplied and the game hasn't gone off the screen, the multiplier
still appears until another hand is played or the game goes off the
screen. This was different. On many hands in which the multiplier
appeared, there was no pay on the last hand and I made the screen
appear. Might these be hustler-proof machines?

To my knowledge, it would be against GCB regulations to "take away" a prize
from a player. Once a player has won an award - such as a multiplier - it
must persist until it is used or cashed out and cannot simply be removed. A
more familiar example is that a casino can't run a progressive, and when
the progressive value gets high, pull the progressive and basically steal
the player contributions.

Perhaps you switched denomination? The multipliers are specific to the
denom you are playing.

I understand that. That was definitely not the problem. The
multipliers disappeared when I changed the number of coins bet, before
I played the hand.

This is an easy explanation. Next time you see this game try this. Find a screen with " next hand" multipliers on the screen. Play the next hand at a 5 coin per hand level. The multipliers will count for that hand and even though the hand is over it will show the multipliers from the past hand and no new multipliers for the next hand due to short coining the max bet. If you then cash out the screen showing your past hand and multipliers looks like it is available for future play. This is probably what you saw rather than future multipliers.

They didn't on this machine.

I'm aware of normal machines doing this. The multipliers from the
past hand only stay on the screen until the game is changed or another
hand is played. This was different.

Play a hand on the machine that I played that you think you'll get
multipliers for. You'll see that it's different.

NYNY has a bank of these newer UX where the played off multipliers stay on the screen. Looks like they are active, very deceiving. Sounds like the same version,

This is the game that a con man got me to play at the HRH below the sportsbook. He told me he had just hit it and he was on his honeymoon and wanted to share his good fortune. Even showed me a camera pic of dealt 4 2's.
He started to tell me how to play, and started to touch the buttons before I told him to just hold himself.
The con was for me to get something dealt, and then convince me to walk away and then he would play the next hand and get all the multipliers for each of the ten lines.

PS After I left I saw him try this with another women. I alerted security, but he was gone.

On the newer Ultimate X games, if real multipliers exist, they will say "Next Hand" and be at the top left of each hand.
And you'll see the recently played multipliers on the lower left, so you'll see two sets of multipliers.

This is the game that a con man got me to play at the HRH below the sportsbook. He told me he had just hit it and he was on his honeymoon and wanted to share his good fortune. Even showed me a camera pic of dealt 4 2's.

These "con" artists are called "creators".
The number of ultimate X creators has greatly increased since 2 years ago, when I left Vegas.

For this reason, friends tell me there is an lot of "heat" just looking at Ultimate X machines for multipliers.

In 2009, six security guys surrounded me at Red Rock, and a "suit" warned me that looking for multipliers
on Ultimate X was called "fishing", that it was an "advantage play", and I would not be allowed to do it.
They told me that I could play anything else in the casino, and that I could play "Ultimate X" for 10 coins.

Mitchell

Creators like Nick the Sick usually didn't have much shelf life in any one casino. But in passing they could sure mess things up for the honest pros. As a general rule their motivation for creating was their desire to get high-with crack being the drug of choice.

I happened upon these very machines a few weeks ago and had a similar experience to you. My reaction was not that they were hustler-proof, but rather they were hustler-bait, displaying false Next Hand Multipliers in hopes of duping some smarter players (I'm not sure if this would be illegal, unlike revoking a legitimate multiplier from the new player, which is definitely illegal in Nevada). In the end, I couldn't stay long enough to figure them out, as this trip was primarily a Take My Girlfriend To Vegas affair. But I had forgotten about them and are glad you started this discussion.

If you ever play Ult-X on a "5-Star" machine, you will see the same thing - the previous hands multipliers. But if the words Next Hand appear under the multiplier, then you know the multiplier is available for the next hand.

How long do the old multipliers stay on the machine?
