New to Reno...Peppermill or Atlantis?

Hi,

Which casino is better, Peppermill or Atlantis? I am looking for a
really nice room and good food (not gourmet, coffee shop is fine.)
Since I have never been to Reno, I will have to book directly with the
hotel and hope they pick up my room charges, which is something I
haven't done in many, many years.

My wife and I play VP, putting through at least $15-20k per day, and
have gone as high as $125k in one day. Future offers with cash or
free play are a huge plus.

If someone can refer me to a host at either property, I would
appreciate it.

Thanks in advance for your help,

-Rob

Welcome to the happiest place on earth!!

I LOVE both, each is a gem, while I dont know where
you played before , for VP players these are the two
best casinos anywhere period.

As which is better, Atlantis free room offers are not
deducted from your comp account so you can use them
for food, Pepp rooms offers are, BUT not always as
kind of depends on your play. For what you describe
should not be a problem.

NEED TO READ THE PAST TRIP REPORTS, PLEASE,

sorry about shouting but with the GREAT reports we
all have posted , all of info you need is there as
these are two unique & very different casinos.

Food is outstanding in both, so are the rooms.

How about playing both?? Get offers from both.

Rob,

I agree with all that MJ said here. I think there is an excellent chance that you can avoid
room charges at one or both casinos Before my first visit to both, I introduced myself to a
host, and told them of my play elsewhere. in both cases I had played at their casino, but
minimally- I doubt that that mattered. In both cases I got free rooms for two nights on
my first visit.

If you want a 4-night stay, why not try to get two nights at each? If you don't get freebies
(and I bet you will) at least I'd expect a good room rate.

Here are hosts I contacted.

Peppermill: Maggie Scott; mscott@peppermillreno.com; 1-800-822-0935.
Atlantis: Glenn Matthews: gmatthews@atlantiscasino.com; 800-723-6500

I've worked with Maggie for a long tome - she's super. My first stay at Atlantis was a
month or so ago, and Glenn was quite helpful, though I don't know him well.

If you have trouble reaching them (or another host at either) write back and I'll back-
channel their direct phone numbers.

You're gonna love 'em both.

We have stayed at both Casinos. We started at the Peppermill for
several years and then did a couple of trips to the Atlantis and
missed the Peppermill and returned.

This is sort of a free form comparison. I think the variety and
quality of the food is better at the Peppermill and until recently
was better priced. There are more specials and coupons at the
Peppermill, which if you are fully comped would not be a
consideration. I love the Oceana at the Peppermill and find the
Oyster Bar at the Atlantis crowded and noisy at it is open to the Sky
Terrance gambling area. The Cafe Alfresco at the Atlantis is also
very noisy and open. The coffee shops are both relatively quiet. The
best thing about the Peppermill Coffee shop is the Banana Macadamia
nut bread and French toast. The Peppermill food court for quick and
easy food is now closed.

The sports bar at the Peppermill is awesome and until Atlantis does
its remodeling, there is noting to compare. I would rate it as 11
Peppermill and a 2 Atlantis. Food deli nearby, great bar with JOB and
NSUD, HD giant screens, tables, great eavesdropping, etc.

All in all the bars at the Peppermill, I think are nicer, machines,
atmosphere. I don't think the Atlantis has anything to compare with
the Fish Bar and Fireside Lounge.

Video Poker variety and great paytables are better at the Atlantis,
so if that is the major consideration, play there. I think comps are
easier at the Atlantis. However I think Peppermill has better free
play offers for future trips.

The Peppermill has an interesting decor concept of neon retro so if
garish bothers you, you may prefer the Atlantis. Atlantis is a more
plain vanilla casino decor which feels a little down market to me. It
also seems more crowded between the machines. I feel more comfortable
at the Peppermill. Atlantis you can check you point total earned at
the machines, at the Peppermill you must go to the booth. It takes
twice as many points for Platinum status at the Atlantis as the
Peppermill.

The Atlantis has the Concierge Lounge which is great if you are
staying in a suite or the Concierge Tower. Free breakfast and snacks,
but limited hours, free internet, a great view, tv, newspapers, and a
cash bar.

For now the Peppermill has the best work out facility, (Atlantis is
remodeling to compete) tv's on exercise machines, etc., free water,
fruit, but the charge is now $10.00 a day per person, again if
everything is comped would not be a problem. There is a fee at the
Atlantis as well but I think that in the Concierge Tower it is free.

Not sure if the Peppermill pool is open, Atlantis has also been
remodeling at least one of their pools.

The new addition to the Peppermill is mostly meeting rooms, but has a
very upscale bar with jazz, etc. Bartops have BP and NSUD.

New restaurant (upscale Coffee shop) is also very nice with an
interesting menu. Biscotti's at the Peppermill.

Atlantis has smoke free sky Terrance. Peppermill new bar is no pipes
or cigars but allows cigarettes.

Peppermill shows major sports games, golf on Sundays in the casino so
you can watch while playing the tables.

You can hear the music at the Peppermill, sometimes 2 songs at once,
Atlantis is there but too faint to really hear.

Peppermill will give you a coffee maker, refrigerator, even a
microwave for your room at no charge upon request. Atlantis may also,
but I have never asked.

Peppermill is working on a giant spa (3 stories) and the Atlantis is
going to be doing a major remodel as well. Right now the Atlantis spa
is better, if it is open. They had been working on the pools.

VIP lounges are about the same.

High limit at the Atlantis has a food menu from which you can order.
I don't know if it comes off your comp balance or not. Sweets set
out. Never see any food at the high limit at the Pepp.

Life changing slot jackpots. None over the quarter Wheel at the
Peppermill, I think. No dollar WOF. Lots at the Atlantis.

No decaf coffee at the Peppermill bars, only instant Sanka, Atlantis
some bars have it and bartender will go get if they don't.

The Peppermill has a nicer clothing store.

Check the database for VP games. If I think of anything else I will
post.

Hope this helps.

Trish

My suggestion is to try both places and try the ElDororado. I think
you will enjoy all of them. In fact, I think you should experience
them all and have FUN. Its a great place (imho) and we really enjoy
it when we get the opportunity to get up there. But if you are
narrowing it down to those 2 - then I think you might like the
Atlantis better. The first 2 times at the Peppermill totally
disoriented me. Its the lighting in there. After about an hour -
had to get out of there. Now I am use to it and enjoy it.

If you have any intention of returning to the Reno market then
Peppermill wins this one, hands down.
