new to Can. gaming

I am visiting a Can. casino in the near future. How does the money
exchange work....say I bring $1000 American dollars. then I get it
exchanged for approx. $1052 Can. dollars at the Can. casino, then when
I leave, if I have the same $1052, they keep $31 and give me back less
than my original $1000 American dollars?

And there is no limit on the number of credits you can cashout with on
the machine, even if you hit a large jackpot (over say....$2000)?

Also, if you hit a really large jackpot, will they give you a check to
take back to the U.S.?

Thanks for any replies.

You would be much better off exchanging your currency at a bank,
rather than the casino. Still, you will lose a bit when you exchange
one currency for another, and then exchange back to the original.

I don't know the answer to your other questions. I have played on
machines at Rama that did not appear to have an upper limit on the
number of credits that can accumulate. There are some there now that
automatically print a ticket if a win will produce either a credit
balance of more than 2400, or $600, I'm not sure which.

Similarly, when I hit quads playing dollar pick'em at Windsor, a
ticket for the win was printed immediately. In any event, this is
probably a casino-specific thing, rather than a general rule.

I've always assumed I could get a large jackpot paid with a cheque,
but haven't had the opportunity to find out.

If you want to avoid getting ripped off on exchange back and forth, arrange a line of credit with
the casino. If you do that then you only pay the service charge for exchanging money one way.

Machine credits are all set by the individual casinos.
All hand payoffs under $10,000 are paid without need of any identification. I am not sure about
higher payoffs. You could probably get a check but it would be in Canadian funds and the IRS might
get interested if you made a check deposit.
