The Colorado Belle, down in beautiful Laughlin, runs a unique promotion every
once in awhile. They fire up this a few times a year. The most traditional
is these three current weekends, where they have music outside in the parking
lot. Pardi-Gras, Blues and Brews and one other? It is a traditional
hand-filled out/ticket drawn out of a drum style drawing. What is not traditional is
the format to win the bucks.
You folks who have been banging your heads on Risk and Bankroll stuff might
enjoy this one. Others might because it is so simple and really a fun
promotion.
If your name is selected you get to roll some oversized dice down the Grand
Staircase of the CB. These are two foot by two foot cardboard dice. You are
guaranteed $100 for being drawn.
You have a Velcro board with ten digits stuck to it. The numbers are 1 to
10. What number you roll you can remove in any way possible using as many
posted numbers you want.
A bonus of $100 is awarded if you roll snake-eyes. If you get all the
numbers off the board, the prize is $1,000.

It is fairly apparent that strategy dictates removing the highest numbers
possible. It is apparent that keeping the "two" alive has value. It is
apparent that having a seven to get on the last roll (maybe) is the best option, with
5-2 probably the best two numbers left on the board.

So you math types need a new problem?

What are the odds of getting all ten digits off the board for $1000 bucks?
What is the proper algorithm to consider the $100 bonus for snake-eyes? You
still win the money if you can't cover it.
It really is a fun promo.
