NEW SCREENS AT THE $1 BAR AT GT

I just got back from Greektown and won a few hundred playing
quarter Pick'Em and dollar Bonus Poker at the bar. At the bar they
have installed new screens that are raised and angled so they can be
seen better. Cool!
I managed to hit four Kings for $175, cashed out and split.
Dolores and I will be down Sunday probably playing quarter Pick'Em
mostly upstairs.
Lately, I have been playing Texas Hold'em on line (now that I'm
retired) in some of the freeroll games. Tough to win as some of them
have as many as 1500 players. So far, I have been getting to the
last 30-50 players or so and then my luck runs out and I get beat by
some great hand. Lost with a full house to a four of a kind in one
when I was all-in.
Will be playing for real money as soon as I can get into the top
ten once in a while. I have about fifty books on the subject and six
computer programs to practice on. I still can't relax like I can
when I play video poker. I think it's a stressful game for the
average player.

Hey Pappy glad to hear about the new screens, they were not there on my last vist (Sunday). Not only was I loosing money on those bartops I was also getting eye strain. I might try switching from the DDB to the bonus poker and try to get away from those big swings. Although the nickel multi line machines are lots of fun I always have to try the bartops hoping to hit quad aces or a royal (which hasn't happened yet). Come to think of it, in about 24 months of play at Greektown I have yet to hit a royal on a $.25 or 1$ machine after approximately 4 hours play per week on these denominations. Have hit approximately 4 royals on 10 line 5 cent machines in approx 1 hour average per week. Can't afford to play 10 line machines at denominations great than 5 cents. Prior to switching my play to Greektown I hit 3 royals in a one year period on the higher denominations at MGM and Windsor. Switched to GT due to the better video poker. Weird huh?

Preston,

Now that I'm on a fixed income and retired, I can no longer take a
grand with me and risk it at the bar. I will now just pop in a
hundred and if I get ahead a few bucks, cash out and move on.

Bonus Poker at 99.6% is a lot less volatile mostly because of
getting paid 10 for two pair unlike DDB. I have hit many quads
($175) playing this game, but in the past have given it back many,
many times trying for the royal. Like you, so far I have not hit it
at this bank of machines and I've probably played 20 0r 30 thousand
hands by now. Am I due?

The only games I'll play now at Greektown are Pick'Em and DW
(16/10/4/4) for quarters, and maybe take a shot for a hundred at
dollar Pick'Em and Bonus Poker at the bar.

Good luck to you and I'll probably bump into you again down there
sometime.

PS: PS: I finally bought a copy of Jean Scott's "Frugal Video
Poker", the book that I helped Jean with by sending her a couple
hundred quotes to use in it. Old VP Pappy has been quoted in it four
times. I'm jealous!
