VIP services at Harrahs New Orleans can give you some extra goodies: free tickets to IMAX, Aquarium, and Zoo. Just ask. Also you can arrange to use your reward points for comps at "partner restaurants" such as Mortons, Restaurant August, Commanders Palace (still closed), and many more. You can also use points to pay for Gray Line Tours and riverboat tours.
We are currently staying at Windsor Court - very nice hotel. It also has free internet!
We were able to arrange for points to be used for anything extra charged to room like food, etc. We went to their wonderful English tea today ($25 per person). Harrahs is not only comping us a room - but we have a 1 bedroom suite (probably due to my 7 Star status) which is beautiful. Once Harrahs own hotel opens next week, most folks will be booked into it.
Harrah's New Orleans has a lot of promotions which are very good. Two of us went this weekend for Visa card giveaway. My friend got $500 Visa plus $225 cash. I got $250 Visa and $125 cash. Each of us had $150 food at partner restaurants on the promo and we were able to use on 2 nioghts for 2 meals.
On top of this friend got $600 airfare reimbursment he was able to use for himself and guest - him and me. I had a booklet with other coupons and was able to get an additional $78 United upgrade fees rebated from the coupon in my book.
We both had these books and also got cash and $100 each food we used on another meal.
I'm not sure how much play you need to start getting these offers. Looks like once you come you will start getting them based on 1 year of play. I originally had offer without coming. Friend came and played and after 1 trip is getting additional offers.
Harrahs here has a so-so Diamond club with bar and just snack foods like cheese and potato chips mostly. You can walk out of room carrying drink though, which is good (location in Palm room behind high roller area).
They are very nice to 7 Star players here and have separate lines for 7* from Diamond. Buffet is very good as well. There are now 2 other restaurants - Besh (steakhouse) and a Chinese/Japanese. Also a couple of snack places such as Starbucks that let you swipe card.
My host, Anthony Tate, was very helpful. He also arranged limo to and from airport and the nice accomodations at Windsor Ct.
City of New Orleans is in much better shape than when I was here in March. Many stores are now reopened. Lots of rebuilding and fixing of roofs, etc. Aquarium now reopened. French Quarter was never flooded and is just fine. Lots of stuff to do here. Swamp tours back in action too. Lots of excellent shopping also. Many restaurants have reopened and food is great.
Also people here are super friendly in casino. I hit jackpot and it was slow to be paid out, so slot supervisor gave me a comp for buffet (insisted on it).
I highly recommend visiting New Orleans.
